Hey everyone,

I plan to take the Virginia Law exam soon, but I have no idea what I need to focus on. Does anyone have any study tips or suggested readings? Also, anyone know the passing rate for this exam?

Thanks!

Seriously, no one on here took the Virginia law exam?? Please reply if you did because I didn't attend pharmacy school in Virginia. I need to know how difficult this exam is and how much time I need to spend looking over things.

Thank you!

Hey VP_Pharm2004,
Did you or anyone else ever end up taking Virginia's law exam? I take it next week so any info about it would be much appreciated. Thanks... Jerry

Does anyone out there taken the Virginia pharmacy law exam? How should I study for this exam? I don't know what to focus on. I greatly appreciate it for any info.
Thanks,

Friends !
Do you need to go to VA to take VA law test or you can take from any state?
Who conducts VA law tests? Is it pearson vue, the one who works with our NAPLEX?
Please reply.

Okay! Now I came to know Comira conducts the FSDLE. And it in located in various state.
LOL I asked the question and I got the answer.

Can anyone tell me Please , how long is the ATT(authorization too take test) for FSDLE is good. After getting approval from the board do we need to take the test within certain months or a year. Any feedback is highly appreciated. Please reply.

Hi there,
I took the exam in July. All you need to study is the material the board has sent you. Focus on their blue print, and you will be fine. The questions are so tricky though. Make sure to be well rested the night before the exam, and read the questions carefully. I do not know the passing rate though. Good luck on your exam 🙂

This is what I found in VA Boars's website....

Are there sample questions or a preparatory class offered for the Virginia Federal and State Drug Law Examination (FSDLE)?

No. However, applicants are strongly encouraged to use the Federal and State Drug Law Examination Handbook found within Guidance Document 110-2 as a study guide when preparing to take this exam.

I am taking this exam and I received the study material from VA BOP. There is no content in blue print out of the four packets I received except one of them has a blue cover sheet (19 pages long). Do you mean material in that packet? Thank you.

Yes, that's what I meant 🙂

hi angie99,
planning to give fsdle in about a weeks time.just went thru the exam guide what i received from the va bop.but really didnt absorb much from the material.how long did u take to prepare for the exam?any advice or suggestions?

thx.

i took the virginia law exam 2 weeks ago. it was actually easier than the nj mpje.

but for me it took less than a week to study. i never bought any law books. i only studied off of what the board sent to me.

this is how i studied for both nj and virigina law and passed the first time i studied for both. just fyi this is not how i normally study but found to be useful. I would read through the packet and i retyped what I thought was important onto microsoft word (reading and typing took about 3 days). then like 2 days before my test date, i would just re-read my handout that i prepared.

i realized that i kept forgetting the material that i would read, and note taking all the important info by hand was too tedious so i typed the important info.

i know ur probably not taking nj law, but nj law was scenario based questions. but virginia law was more regurgitating back info. so it was very straight forward but asked you detailed info like what the minimum size of a pharmacy dept. things like that.

for nj law i had to wait 1 week to get my results by mail. but for virigina law you get your results immediately after taking the exam. after you finish the exam you call the proctor over and they type in a password and then your results are revealed!!! (i was so nervous of failing in front of a total stranger, but i PASSED).

hope this helps, sorry for the long reply.

Hey FutureDoc07,

Did you find the Pass the Virginia Law Exam book that you mentioned above helpful? How long did you spend studying for this exam? Did you use any other study materials? How difficult did you find the exam to be? Thanks! 🙂

Thanks for the info! I have already been reading through that book carefully, and I was debating about whether or not to spend much time on the material from the Board. I'm taking the exam this coming Monday, but I will definitely try to fit in as much studying as possible. Congrats on passing on the first try, and thanks again for your input. 🙂

Hey guys - I just took the law exam yesterday and passed with flying colors. I had some people in my class just study solely off the book and passed.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I just returned from taking the Virginia Pharmacy Law Exam, and I passed on the first try!! 🙂 I really didn't spend any significant time studying anything other than the review book previously mentioned. I knew everything in that book very well, though. I am already licensed and practicing in DC. Please feel free to ask me any questions about Naplex, DC law, or VA law. Good luck to everyone! 🙂

Great job! Congratulations.. Yea I would like to ask you about DC Law.....I want to be licensed there also....

What materials did you use? I see that huge PDF document and it looks so daunting.. Do you have any DC Pharmacy Law notes to study from? or recommend any concise book if available.. I have yet to find anything

Thanks! I would say that the DC law exam definitely wasn't as tricky as the VA one. The questions seemed more straightforward. The DC exam seemed to focus more on federal law. I studied more for VA than I did for DC b/c so many people thought VA was a tougher exam.

In terms of study materials...I *very lightly* skimmed through that daunting 500-page document. And honestly, I don't think I retained much from doing that. None of the other pharmacists that I work with really studied the whole thing in depth either. The main thing I used to study for DC law was the Pronto Pass MPJE Federal/DC review. Their review includes 60 flash cards packed full of federal law and a skinny packet (can't remember exactly how many pages) containing DC specific law. The federal flash cards were very helpful for the DC exam and MUCH easier to memorize than the 500-page document. That being said, I didn't pass DC law "with flying colors", but I did pass. Now that I think about it, I haven't really heard of anyone passing the DC exam with tons of room to spare...probably b/c nobody wants to spend a month memorizing 500 pages of boring material. ;-)

Good luck to you! Please let me know if you have any more questions. 🙂

Does anyone know how long after you take the NAPLEX it typically takes to get results for VA off of the NABP site? Thanks!

I took the Naplex in June 2010 and didn't ever check the NABP website. I received my Naplex score in the mail from VA approximately 2 weeks after I took the exam. Those two weeks were maddening, I tell you. ;-)

Yikes! 2 weeks. Hopefully online is quicker than that. Thanks for the info.

If you take the law exam first, then the NAPLEX, it will take about three business days to find out. Usually, the VA board of pharmacy uploads the new licenses at 5:30am every morning so you can check on the VA BOP. If you have a license number up, then you're licensed, if not - I"m hoping its cause it's taking them longer than usual 🙂 ... so I've heard from some friends. Good luck.

The NABP website says the following:

Who Can Access Score Results Online?

Currently, score results are available online for candidates who are taking the NAPLEX or MPJE for the following states and jurisdiction:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
Colorado
Connecticut
District of Columbia
Georgia
Idaho
Indiana
Kansas
Louisiana
Maryland

Massachusetts
Missouri
Nebraska
New Jersey
North Carolina
North Dakota
South Carolina
Texas
Virginia
West Virginia
Wyoming

When Will My Results Be Available?

Score results will be available approximately seven business days after you have taken the examination.

Thanks. Actually I had already read this, but some states on the list (not Virginia) display results 2 days after taking the NAPLEX, so I didn't know if anyone knew from practical experience what the turn around time in VA is.

Now that I think about it...VA may have gotten my Naplex results to me closer to 7 days after the exam, but I was out of town visiting family when the letter arrived. I received it when I returned home to find it sitting in my mailbox, about two weeks post exam. I think it was postmarked about 6-7days after I sat for the Naplex. I registered to take the Naplex through VA instead of DC b/c I was eager to start the job I'd already accepted, and I'd read that the VA application turn around was faster for the Naplex application than DC was.

Hey

Yes, that book is very helpful and straightforward, as it is in Q and A format-- no digging through statutes. However, to be on the safe side, I still glanced at the blueprint the Board sent to make sure I covered everything. I did go over some things in the statutes for reinforcement but not crazily. If you know what is in that book, you should pass.

I also bought a quiz type application from pharmacyexam.com to practice-- those practice questions were good too... as it gave me confidence

I studied maybe like a week and a half.. that might seem short... but typing out the information from the BOOK... reading out loud and typing it, made it stick in my head. The material was also reinforced through the quizzes and skimming the statutes to keep my mind at ease.

But I will tell you, that exam is very very tricky.. the wording is crazy... just be alert.... drink your coffee on that day🙂

Also read every choice before selecting an answer.
I swear all of the answers seemed right at times... I narrowed it to two choices on some questions.. and both still seemed right.. But I am just glad I passed.

Besides, I wish they would stop the tricking game and make the test straightforward......Other than that.. don't blow studying off. It is great to pass the first try

Hey FutureDoc07,

I'm studying for VA FSDLE and read in the book by Long, that "it's not necessary to match brand name with generic." Would you say this is true? Does the exam present both brand and generic for a drug? Thanks!

Also, for anyone that is wondering, it took me 2 days to get my NAPLEX results online.

The study guide by Long mentioned earlier--is there more than one edition? I have one that says it is a 'first edition', I think from 2009 and I'm wondering if this is the edition other people have used.

Hi All,

I am planning to take Virginia state law exam and will appreciate if someone is willing to sell the study material sent by the state board.

As I am applying for the license transfer, my application would take a few weeks to get processed and I am thinking to get the material as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance!

Used the review book by alexis long exclusively. didn't even open the blue review packet. got an 88% on first atempt. a few things in the book are unclear that i recommend looking at from another source: out-of-state provider prescriptions, how long the different schedule scripts are valid before expiring, CII partial-fill reqs. Overall though it is a great resource.

I just moved here from out of state with 3 little children and will be taking this test soon. I went to school a long time ago (graduated in 90) I am reciprocating my license. I am single mom so don't have a lot of opportunities to study! Any help or insight would be much appreciated. I bought the Long book and did get the packet of laws from the Board but it seems like so much! Please help! Anybody taken it recently? Thanks you so much!

Oh, how are the questions worded? Are thet straight multiple choice or are they multiple-multiple choice (i.e., gives you a, b, c, d and then more answers that you pick from like a and b, a and c, a and d, etc. Also see that people keep saying wording is really tricky. How so? Don't understand. Thanks!

So could you guys summarize the materials which I have to study?
Like...
1. the print-out which Virginia board of pharmacy sent
and there are 4 packets....very thick. so, all of them???
2. Alexis long book
and ....
3. is there anybody who wants to sell the alexi s lon g book?

Thank you.

Hi FutureDoc07,

I purchased the pharmacyexam.com test prep via online. It had 150 qns. I am not sure if the actual test would resemeble like that or not. There are some dubious qns, they ask in the pharmacyexam.com. Remember the first qn about opthamologist prescribing lopressor. It is ok to prescribe in some states, but in VA it says it is wrong. Please email me, [email protected]. We will discuss some more questions where I could use your help. Thanks

Hi there!! I'm looking for any review notes for DC and MD's exam. Do you know any new grads I can contact?? I'm also taking VA next month, but I have the review book so I should be okay on that one. Thanks in advance!!

I took VA MPJE and passed. I studied the material sent to me, purchased the Alexis Long book. Don't do quizlet. it was a waste and confused me more. I made and 85, considered I am licensed in 4 other states also.
