I've noticed that alot of people that live in the North want to come to D-school in the south and people that live in the south want to go up north. Has anyone else noticed this? I know that I want to go up north and im from Florida...

i'm from the south and i want to stay here although i have interviews at alot of northern schools... just thinking of the winter makes me shiver... but i guess i might have to get over it...

snow 👎

What makes you want to leave Florida? I'm from PA, but if I somehow manage to get into UF, I'll be Gator nation bound. 🙂

I dont realy like the weather...

Look at it on the bright side, you can move back south after 4 yrs and also you'll probably be so busy that 90% you'll be locked up in the library, home or lab/clinic.

i moved to Baltimore from florida and i'm NEVER going back.

jb!🙂

for those that don't like snow, please do all a favor,
for while you prefer the south,
we northerners love our weather,
and the less ppl applying to the schools up here,
well then, it will be much better.

people up north think florida is sunny and beautiful all day, everyday! they could not be more wrong. it is a sauna 8 months out of the year... and sunny skies all day are few and far between. you're almost guaranteed an afternoon thunderstorm, and even better are 80 degree (and muggy!) Christmas days! 👎

FL weather suckssssss😛

..but that is just my prerogative. there is a girl in our class from FIU that can't wait to get back to miami... different strokes for different folks.

I've found that everyone here seems to hate Florida unless they're from Miami, in which case they love it. I imagine I'll choose to stay up north, but a vacation house near SoBe would be pretty pimp 😀

I'm from the south and definitely staying. In fact, I would never move to the north. I cant stand the cold weather and am applying to all southern schools - VCU is the most northern school I'm applying to.

What about east to west and vice versa? I'm from California and I so want to end up on the east coast. The only trade offs will be that most of my family is out here and the beautiful weather. I like to see new things and California is so blah to me. I need a change of atmosphere and I love the vibe on the east coast...

I am from the North East and love it, but more for the culture than the weather. The spring, summer and especially fall are lovely. Yet, somehow every winter, come January and into February, I find myself asking, "Why didn't I move to the West Coast!" It's like I forget how unbearable winter can be sometimes. Especially when the sun is setting before 5:00pm. The earliest sunset for me at home is ~4:20pm in December. 😱

I just get so lethargic in the cold, dark months! Hibernation is still ingrained in my circadian rhythms. 😴

Then again, it makes me really appreciate the other seasons.

I'm from Buffalo and I love the Northeast. I'm going for dentistry down south because I LOVED the school...and the weather doesn't hurt either. So yeah, I guess I agree. Things are a lot slower down here for sure, but it's a nice change of pace. I do believe I may just stay here and be what they refer to down in Richmond as a d*** Yankee 😉

I used to live in the canary islands, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to be exact. It hardly rains almost a guarantee sunny day and it doesn't get muggy because it is dry. A climatologist from the University of Syracuse declared that Las Palmas has the best weather in the world.😛
