Hi SDNers,

For all of us that studied all summer (or not) and didn't do as well as we needed to, if we retake at the end of November/December...What happens to our lost souls?

Will we still stand for an interview in December/January and on?
Be waitlisted? (this is assuming our new scores are awesome)
Or is there no hope and applying next cycle is the only option?

Any advice...inspirational stories 😀.... words of wisdom--would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
I know a guy who applied quite late last cycle (October I believe) who got waitlisted and then eventually accepted in June of this year.

His stat wasnt exactly stellar either; 3.5 overall, 3.2 sci with 18/19, so I think theres def. hope for you guys.

Good luck! 👍

Thanks Jigabodo... you are always on top of things around here!

My plan of attack is to get a 21+AA on this next DAT and hope for the best. I just wish I would have taken it earier this summer than retaken it recently. I'm sure I would have done better 🙁

Totally in the same boat here. Going to retake in November. Too bad we cant select a day for the next 90 days. Once my 90 days are up, i'm taking the exam asap, even if its at 730am. I have a friend who took the DAT in april of 2006, and retook the exam in November of 2006. He got some interviews prior to retaking the exam (initial AA 18, 2nd time around 19 or so, great GPA). Needless to say that he is now at Columbia. Ideal story, yes. Am i giving up hope, NO!!

Good to hear about your friend's story. It's so nice to know that Columbia actually looks at your application with below 20 on the DAT. thanks for sharing, hope I get some interview invites before my retake on October.

Just reading through the posts and this actually happened to me. I did everything late, AADSAS and DAT. I got a 17 first so I had to re-take the DAT and since they make you wait 90 days, I ended up taking it on Dec. 31! That was one fun xmas break, I must say! Stress to the max! I had one interview (only applied to 3 schools) in February and got waitlisted there. So now I'm reapplying and getting more interviews and very early ones. So just do your best and know that if anything, you will just be a stronger applicant for the following year.

thanks Dental Belle...good luck to you too!
