There is not a single day when I do not think about going to dental school and I think about it every time I am free and not engaging my mind which is maybe at least hundreds of times a day. I feel like I am obssessed with this profession for the past two years. I am not sure how to handle this situation. I want to slow down but I cannot stop thinking about it. Anybody feels like this? How did you manage to slow it down? All responses will be appreciated.

i know how you feel...however, i use it as a motivation tool. Every time I think about D-school, i put extra effort on what I'm working on and it helps me do a better job.

It'll definitely slow down once you get into dental school. You may even begin to question why you chose dentistry in the first place. :meanie:

Hahaha... Spoken like a true bitter dental student. Even first year sometimes you start to think... "just remember it's all worth it in the end"... there are many enjoyable parts too, but ah...it can be ROUGH!

I definitely feel like this -- you're not alone.
Finals though has taken my mind off the obsession a little bit (even though doing well on finals + dental school are connected in my head).
There'll be a time when it mellows out a little bit; you'll still want it just as bad. Right now I'm thinking of my tiny 1 month break before my classes start again. Find something non-dental that'll make you think about something else a little.

I know exactly what you mean. I graduated in December and start school in July. I have a job to pass the time, but it really doesn't engage me all that much (hence the time spent on SDN.) At the same time I don't want to get burned out by school early.

Is that true???
Is D-school that bad?
