How important is it to know these in detail? I don't feel that Kaplan or EK really stress them that much. I only know the general idea that is presented for these in EK's physics content. I've done several FLs and these have never popped up in the tests. EK says we don't need to memorize the thin film interference maxima/minima so I'm wondering if EK's presentation of these topics is sufficient.

Low-yield material. You might encounter some diffraction in the context of X-ray crystallography but since that's pretty advanced, you would only need to know it on a very basic level.
