Do any of you guys in college use noise cancelling earmuffs? Or earplugs?

If so which do you prefer? Pros/cons of each.

Also is true that earplugs can damage your hearing (that's why I bought earmuffs instead)? Do you guys have any suggestions on the safest and best earplugs you use when studying?

Are these the best earmuffs?

I actually like a little background noise, so no.

I use a fan or a white noise generator (sound machine) to drown out background noise. I can't stand having things in or on my ears for a long time.

I found that they really only help for low-frequency noise (bass, airplane engine drone, etc). For noisy roommates/neighbors the foam deals work just fine...

Find a quiet room to study in.

It works perfect.

Don't spend money to replicate what the test center doesn't really. Those muffs are so uncomfortable I took them off and relished the sounds of me loudly typing my written section.

yeah those were pretty uncomfortable especially if you wear glasses...

It depends on what I'm studying but most of the time I listen to music w/ earplugs/headphones that are also pretty good noise canceling....if I think I need quiet then I use the same earplugs (minus the music of course)

i study w/ earplugs from time to time but I hate it when one plug is more in one ear than another...then I can't concentrate until i fix it.
by the time I even out the "snugness" I've forgotten what I was thinking

:annoyed:

I know how that goes. I usually study with music & my headphones are earbuds and I constantly have to fix them. It's frustrating. :boom:

Earplugs work really well for me, but quiet might not always be best. Personally, having it super quiet when I'm really tired makes it way too hard to stay awake.

Good luck!
