Hi all,

Before I ask my question, which you could probably figure out by the title, I'll tell you all about myself.

I'm a new cross-over: was pre-med, but decided on pre-"dent" (if that's the proper term!!). Basically, I went to one of those Summer programs this past summer and shadowed doctors and stuff. Well, after 5 weeks of doing it I realized it wasn't for me.:scared: The last, 6th week, I asked to go to the dental school and from the intro that I was given and everything else, I decided that dentistry was for me. (Lifestyle wise, and pretty much I could actually see myself DOING THIS! lol).... anyways. 😍

I'm in my second year of college and was wondering, don't you guys get stressed before you go on your interviews? If so, what are some things that you do to calm yourselves down?

Looking forward to getting to know most of you!!! 👍

No doubt, interviews are stressful, but the fact is that schools just want the opportunity to get to know your personality and to see if you would be the right fit for their school. The only way to relax is to plan on being yourself. Trust yourself and you won't be nervous. Be prepared and you'll do well. Generally, interviews are not stressful because they are usually conversational. You feel like you are having a conversation with a friend because it goes in any direction that you take it to. Ill admit I was so nervous for my first interview but after that, the rest were a piece of cake. It is natural to be nervous and stressed out. You know that it is a critical part of your application and you obviously take it seriously. Make sure that you can tackle each question in a clear, concise manner. If you aren't prepared, you will find yourself babbling off the topic. Whatever you do, don't memorize answers to questions. You will sound rehearsed and artifical and the interviewer will see that. You can think of an outline of the points you want to make but don't memorize sentences. You will be caught off guard for those unexpected questions. Be yourself and you won't go wrong!

I was not stressed or nervous at all when I went in- but then....I think part of my personality is that I am a very calm person. There's this girl in our interview group, she was like flipping out. It was both our first interview. Anyway- you got an interview because you have met their qualifications based on grades and personal essay. Keep in mind that the interview is just so the people there can get to know you a little- they want to see if your personality would fit in the environment. that's all. So- just be yourself. But do practice the questions that are posted on the feedbacks...it helps a lot.

Best luck to you!

Everyone is different. It all depends on one’s personality. In my case, I never feel nervous or stressed out before exams, finals, interviews … just name it. I don’t even try to calm myself down. But that is just me. Try not to think about outcome before you actually get through and keep concentrated on your interview or anything else of that nature. Just be natural 👍

I was very nervous and researched the school's website: i printed all the information and studied it well. When i was in my hotel room i double and triple checked everything to be good to go for the next morning and asked the concierge for a wake up call + doorknock. To relieve the stress, the night before i went on a two or three mile run and did some moderate exercise in my hotel room with a soccer ball i purchased, pushups, squats, and sit ups of various kinds...
double/triple checked room and prepared for the next day, ate dinner @ 6:00, exercised, shower, watched tv, sleep.
i woke up at 4:30 or 5:30 with a show up time to the school at about 9:00. i took a nice long shower after a few mild-to-moderate push ups and sit ups; at the shower i spent 1 hour to 1.5 hour, and i made sure to be 'on point'. i went to starbucks got a muffin plus grande coffee + 2 shots espresso (it's called 'black eye')-- showed up to campus at 8:30, and arrived at office at 8:45. The rest of the day was cake, i noticed some others seemed "drained".

Nope, you're wrong... it's not pre-dent-- it's pred . we are also known as predators or pre-determined-dedicated-doers-diligently-doing-that-dat-during-the-decades, it doesn't make sense for now, but it will one day... you'll see

ITS PAUL!!!! AUG knows whats up. Listen to the Beatles...that calms me down. Listen to some music (your choice, although the Beatles are always a good one) it will divert your attention away from the stress and refresh you.

Congrats. I think the fact that you made a great career choice should be relaxing enough. You’ve got a while until you need to get stressed out about interviews and the admission process. Enjoy college, go out, try new things.
