Everything for the past 3 years has been leading up to this year. I started post bacc courses in fall of 2014 and graduated from a different school with my bachelors in business that semester. My first semester of post bacc was bad, got a 2.7 but have had a vertical upward trend, I have had a 3.8 for the past year and half for a sGPA of 3.69 for post bacc. My overall sgpa is only a 3.49. I have 2 years of research including a publication and poster, over 500 hours of volunteering in different hospitals, 150 hours of shadowing, and a national leadership position. The one major thing holding me back is my MCAT, I have taken several aamc old style practice tests and can't get above a 501. I think I need to skip this cycle so I can get a decent MCAT and apply with a better app. I'm a CO resident, leaning MD considering DO too

You are wise in this observation.

Concur with my wise colleague gyngyn. Med schools won't be going anywhere, and in fact, by the time you apply, more will have opened.

Do you, @gyngyn, @Goro think It would be a bad idea to consider an SMP for the Fall? I saw that some deadlines are not until June. I could study for the MCAT this summer (with no classes). I already have 7 years of college under my belt, or would this be too "professional student"?
