Today is Thursday and my test is scheduled for Monday. I'm freaking :scared: out. I've been taking Kaplan practice tests and I don't think I'm ready. I have a very low GPA (3.0) and I must kill the DAT or else I can't imagine getting into dental school. I took my most recent practice test yesterday and here are my scores:

Bio: 17
GChem: 19
OChem 16 🙂eek: wtf last time I got a 21)
RC: 27
QR: 23
TS: 17
PA: 22
AA: 20

The only reason my AA is 20 is because of my non-science sections, so my TS is garbage. I feel like my fluctuation between tests is huge and I can't afford the risk come Monday. I've been doing DAT Destroyer problems every day for two months, so will putting off the test for two weeks really help me improve that much? The second option is putting it off until August, but then I'll have a late(r) application which I've continuously read is counterproductive to getting into dental school.

I need some advice badly, so thank you in advance.

Take something other than Kaplan practice tests, those are known to have harder TS than the real DAT.
Try taking the free 2007 ADA test, it is much easier than the real DAT from what everyone says but it should give you some confidence. If you looking for like 21+ then, from the trends I see you should probably get >22-23 TS the 2007 ADA

I recommend you checkout destroyer, qvault, or bootcamp. those have good tests I think. I havent taken the actual DAT test yet, but those resources are helping me to tackle my weaknesses.

good luck man i know how you feel, im in a similar boat as you.

The truth is, you will never feel ready. I spent a total of 5 weeks studying for mine and I was pretty sure I would have to take it again. But I didn't reschedule it since it's pretty late for the application cycle already. It turned out I did quite well, if you have done all the destroyer problems and feel pretty comfortable with them, you should be aright. The questions on the actual exams are no where near as hard. Organic chemistry was the easiest section, very very basic and obvious. Are you only using Kaplan and Destroyer? If you want to do really well on it, you need several more resources. Otherwise, you'll just score average with those two in my opinion. (I just took my DAT 2 days ago, I am so so glad this is all over).

Would you be able to share your study materials and how you approached the studying, schedule etc? 🙂

I've taken those Kaplan test too and I'm pretty sure the mix up the level of difficulty for each test.Sometimes they make the sections and subsections hard, and sometimes they make it easy

For instance, I got a 14 on the chem section on kaplan. Took another kaplan test the next day and got a 21 on chem without studying in between.

Bottom line, don't trust your kaplan scores too much. I'd take another test from elsewhere and then compare.

If you think kaplan TS is harder than the DAT you are mistaken. I would say topscore was more representative.
