Third time application. I've tried to strengthen my application. Please tell me it's enough :(((

1st application - only MD/pHD , no interviews (was very naive :()

2nd application (barely any clinical experience) - 1 interview, 1 wait-list ultimately rejected.

Unfortunately no publications but some poster presentations

Thermal ecology laboratory - 700 hours
Second author publication with multiple poster presentations

Research associate at a biotechnology company - 3000 hours
Worked in RandD department doing research with antibodies and immunohistochemical staining

Clinical Experience (paid or volunteer):
First responder EMT full-time since June 2019 - present probably about 2100 hours

Hospital ED volunteer pre-covid- 100 hours

Physician Shadowing:
100 hour Gastroenterologist shadowing hospital and outpatient

Non-Clinical Volunteering:
Humane society volunteer with cat adoption and socialization - 200 hours

Other Extracurricular Activities:
Learning assistant (basically TA for chemistry in college) - 700 hours

Other Employment History:
Salesman at an electronic department store

You’ve certainly improved your application by getting all that clinical experience. That was the most important thing you could do. Use Fahas list and apply broadly (at least 30 schools) and you should get more interviews.

Since you have a lot of research experience I’d also recommend some from the following: Cornell, Emory, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Duke.

I feel like another thing that could help you would be to get some directly people-facing nonclinical volunteering set up, especially with a disadvantaged population you care about.

Any other things I should be trying to my application. Feeling pretty burnt out lately from the Pandemic and being an EMT in a large californian county ( it's not abnormal for us to be busy all 10 hour shift with no lunch most shifts)

Your biggest weakness was your lack of clinical experience. You’ve fixed that and done something great during this past tumultuous year.

At this point, just make sure to apply to a good list, write good essays, and submit early.
