I wrote a different essay for my 2nd application cycle, and I am really, really happy with what I wrote. I think it perfectly encompasses why I want to be a doctor and experiences to support that. It could use a few touch ups but looking back even a year later my thinking hasnt significantly changed. Would it be inappropriate to use the same (slightly altered) essay? Please advise! Thanks in advance.

General rule of thumb is that you should at least revise what you previously wrote, even if you feel like you can rule out the essay as being “the reason” you were not accepted.

Rewrite your essay especially if you have the same or similar MCAT/GPA and/or extracurriculars that you had previously.

As a fourth time reapplicant here who got accepted, I highly suggest you rewrite your personal statement. I recycled mine for 3 cycles (with some minor edits) and that was a bad idea.

Be really, really happy with it again, but at least use different vocabulary words.
