So, third year is finally in full swing, and after reading House of God and hearing all the stories about how absurd medicine is, I never expected it to be even more ridiculous than what I had been told.

This stuff is truly stranger than fiction. Anyone have any good stories?

I had a 55 yo previously healthy pt code on me during a Foley removal... he was there for a knee replacement.

Then there's also the nice, sweet, older, yet able-bodied (90+ y/o) patients who present with some random complaint (constipated, or sore throat, or random joint pain) who have those wonderful 800 cm pancreatic masses on CT scan. Just had one the other day. After the stupid NP went and blabbermouthed the results to her, the patient just stared into the distance and told me she wanted to die.

definitely not a business venture considering there are no ads on it, and unfortunately, its not even mine. i am trying to support a friend of mine though
