This is the correct spelling: The MCAT's

I've never understood "orgo". Where the hell is that second letter "o" coming from? "Organic Chemistry" only has one "o" in the whole title, so why would the abbreviation have two?

The last "o" is just a placeholder--it's meant to stand in for the remainder of the word. This is similar to the way that doctors abbreviate "history" as Hx and "diagnosis" as Dx.

As to why that letter is an "o," I guess it just sounds better that way. It may also have been influenced by "bio."

thanks for ruining the fun with a a conclusive answer. i hate premeds 🙁

I don't think the last "o" is a place holder. But I agree that it was probably influenced by bio.

do any of you have names that rhymes with the names of your siblings'?

FYI guys, WUSTL's secondary application says "Oldest MCATS accepted: April 2006" or something to that effect 😱

Hahaha I didn't know there was another AAMC: "American Association for Medical Cannabis" It's the 5th result on google lmao .

I personally like the term "orgo"

A gay name for a gay class

Yeah I'm not sure if I get the orgo-hatred.

MCATS I understand. It's a gramattical error.

Orgo, though, is a nickname. We could call it whetever since it's totally arbitrary. To illustrate my point I will call it "cheese." Just cheese.

It's either a single large exam - the MCAT.

Or, a series of three subject tests - the MCATs.

It all depends on your point-of-view. As Obi-wan said.

It's a single large exam (the MCAT), which you are allowed to take more than once (MCATs).

Again, it's a point-of-view. I was an English major. I know stuff.
