Hi, I am currently a 3rd year but am scheduling 4th yr electives. I was planning on taking radiology but due to scheduling conflict, I mightnot get to take it.

So my ?s are:
1) how important is it to take rads in order to prep for step 2?
2) how important is it to take rads in order to become a good doctor? i am asking b'c i am not sure how much i can expect to learn from 2 wks of reading films when the training is for years

appreciate any advice/suggestions

thanks 🙂

1) not important at all
2) not important at all -- you'll get plenty of clinical correlates in residency and a 1-month course won't change your life's course either way.

if by chance you are interested in surgery, programs like to see electives in vital subjects such as anesthesia and radiology. i think a fund of knowledge in radiology is always helpful for most of the career paths. two weeks is a little short, but i would still do it.
