Hi!

Thought I would make a "support" group where we could relieve our anticipation to hear about the decision. Supposedly, we might here by next year 🙁 But if you call on December 12, they will tell you if they reviewed your application. Anybody else in the same boat as me??

Yeah don't worry dude. I remember them saying something like only 20 people from the current class got accepted right away. The rest were all from the pool. That's a lot of people

Our interview group (11/20) was told that we could expect to have results by 12/12 as well. I'll have the phone on standby!

i interviewed last week and was told to call back by the 12th. Brian's gonna have a field day of answering our calls eh?

Have the people who have been accepted been notified within two weeks? Do they tell you if you're waitlisted (alternative list or whatever) or accepted?

Actually it will. I go there for undergrad too. Approximately 30 students from UCSD are accepted every year. Not too shabby.👍

I don't remember the exact statistics, but UCSD gives the most acceptances to students from (in order):

1) stanford
2) ucsd
3) berkeley/ucla (I don't remember which was higher)

I just got off the phone with brian - he says the dean hasn't given him the list yet - he said wait 3 to 4 hours... so noon or one-ish, feel free to call.

I called and he said my file hadn't been reviewed b/c my interviewers didn't turn in my evaluation early. He said next time you call, call in the afternoon...and that next time will be January 9. O well...hope it's a late christmas present for me 😀 Good luck to everybody else! (especially you whykiki 😉

Thanks!!! I called this afternoon, and Brian told me that my application had not yet been reviewed by the committee. Same reason - it appears my interviewers did not submit their evaluations on time. With how busy my faculty interviewer was (a radiologist at the Moores Cancer Center), I am not at all surprised by this. I'll just try to be patient, and hope that I am reviewed on 1/8, and receive a phone call on 1/9.

I agree with Danjo. It does seem a bit crazy that they didn't write about you for two months. How could they possibily remember you, now? Call them and demand to know 😀

I interviewed on 11/27. So, about the whole 'pool of acceptable applicants' - I spoke to brian (who said that they have waived my ochem requirement should i be accepted - yay) and he said that 89 of the 122 students in the first year were accepted off the waitlist - when he explained it (again) it seemed that UCSD is a rolling/non-rolling school. They do accept people on a rolling basis - but not enough to fill the class - capich? Therefore a LOT of acceptances go out late-aprilish (about 300). I'm not quite sure why they do it this way (seems like they would get people's leftovers in a way), but I guess it works for them. Good luck everyone!!!

Nice resurrection of this thread! Yeah, I e-mailed last week to make sure that my file was complete (with interviewer evaluations), and that it would be reviewed today. I was told to call tomorrow afternoon for the results.

If I recall from the December meeting, sometime between 1-2 pm was the best time for us to begin calling.

I believe they will be making phone calls as well.

I interviewed on 11/20, but my interviewer evaluations were not submitted in time for the December meeting.

wow i shoulda emailed them beforehand too. at least i woulda known that i'd get some kinda result tomorrow
