patient has straw in hand can not insert into container. same patient puts on blue shorts and asks these are blue ,right? third answer patient says while holding wallet in hand . this is my wallet right im holding a wallet? recent trauma small cut on head in auto accident . basic cat scan shows nothing . several months gone by it is now steady whereas it wan of and on in beginning. list possible causes and tests to run

hahaha it totally sounds like a medical joke


The patient has color agnosia with optic ataxia, probably a lesion in the occipito-parietal areas

If they can't put the straw in because they can't actually maneuver the straw to the cup because of overshooting/undershooting it's ataxia, but if they are looking at the cup and the straw with a sort of "WTF am I supposed to do with this" it's more of an apraxia (trouble planning and executing purposeful movement)

Anyway if the OP wants to know more about it they should read up on Traumatic Brain Injury, which is what it sounds like is going on with the fairly garbled history given.

It's hard to know with the details you provide (and don't provide).

1) The motor problem sounds like either true dysmetria versus an optic ataxia.

2) The visual disturbance sounds like it could be visual agnosia, color agnosia, or just plain visual anosognosia.

3) Does the patient have simultanagnosia or any other problems?
