I feel like you should enjoy what you're learning, no doubt. Just be sure that if dentistry is your ultimate goal, you're always keeping that in the front of what you do. Make sure you get the other requirements you need for dental school and do well on your DAT and I don't think physics is a bad degree or anything at all.
Several people in my class have non-science degrees so your degree isn't really the point anyway. It's how you do in the classes required to get into dental school. Lots of students get Chemistry/Biology/Bio-chem degrees because so many requirements are in that area that it's much simpler to do. Don't feel like you have to do what everyone else is doing. Personally, I think that if you do well in your required classes and come out with a physics degree, that will help you stand out.
