I'm trying to think of the best way to explain my pleasantly unbalanced DAT score. I received a 21 AA with no section lower than 18.

Plot twist= I scored a 29 on RC

I wasn't an humanities major, and I didn't take much in the way of literature in college. I was a science major, but I was a writing tutor and won a couple of writing/literature prizes as an underclassman. I attribute my high scores to my love of books and consistent interaction with prose (I did a lot of copy editing as an undergrad and authored or coauthored a couple of scientific publications). Any thoughts on how to explain or "sell" this high RC score to ADCOM's?

I don't think they will even question this. Nonetheless, great score!

Great job! I don't think you'll have to explain...

What was your strategy? Obviously I understand you have a strong reading background. But did you use the search and destroy method, did you read all of the passages, etc?

be honest. honesty is probably the best method for anything regarding interviews, as long as your passion for dentistry is genuine.

Thanks--I'm hoping that ADCOM's are familiar with the work of Ball et al. (specifically The Relationship of Performance on the Dental Admission Test and Performance on Part I of the National Board Dental Examinations).

I did several practice tests and ended up with topics that I was familiar/passionate about on test day. I think this helped. If it helps others, I definitely used the S+D technique on questions that were simple and fact-based. For more complicated tone questions, I typically read more of the passage. I always looked at the questions first, and I don't think I read an entire section all the way through.

It sounds like your looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist... or you just like to write self-congratulatory posts.

not really. I'm just wondering if it might be considered odd that my other scores aren't in this range. I really like reading.
