Hello,

I'm an incoming PGY1 at a pros program and I wanted to ask what are others' thoughts on the implant dentistry programs offered at BU, Tufts, and Harvard and if anyone has completed them? From what I understand we will have some exposure in placing implants during pros residency, but nothing major and complex. I love pros, but I feel I want to not only restore complex implant cases in the future, but to also place them myself and to be confident in offering such treatment to my patients. Maybe doing perio after instead would be a better investment of my time and money?

GPs would most likely refer patients to perio or OS for implants and not to pros who did an implant dentistry program right? Maybe I answered my own question lol, but any input would be appreciated. Thank you

Idk, it’s gonna be very market specific what the referral patterns and demands are like. If a GP is going to refer to a prosthodontist at all I don’t think they’re going to care if the specialist learned implants in prosth residency or perio residency. Implant courses are going to be MUCH more efficient time-wise than a 3 year perio residency.

The implant fellowships seem very popular among those who did prosth
