I had something about fetal blood, too, but I seem to remember deriving my answer from a picture or chart or sthg. It seems like a lot of my answers came from charts and pictures! 😱

ive already signed up for another test date in august, i know i could have done better now im not taking any classes over the summer!

If I have to retake then I'll retake in April. August will probably be a bit too late for me for applications and that will mean I'll have to apply next year so I'll take it in April and apply early. No use in me rushing it in August.

i still have a dim hope that i will not have to retake this monster...
i really don't want to. I worked my as$ off to apply to med school this year and as a matter of fact i am filling out my apps on monday...i just hope i will not get a bucket of cold water on my head on july 3rd when i will find out i wasted 500 bucks for primaries:scared::scared:
i just keep saying to myself that this whole last year was comming so together with everything i have done and achieved that it just has to happen.
And i try to think that i am just that person who always takes the worst case senario...i always have bad feelings about tests i take. I remeber the feeling that i failed my physics test and then fininding out i got 100%:laugh: so i am trying to just relax and wait. There is not much i can do right now. I am not registering for another MCAT...i feel it's a bad luck.
I am also selling all my practice materials.
:luck::luck::luck: to everyone. it will be a looooong 31 days.

I am doing the same thing. Relax, wait, and pray that I'm not blowing money. However, you could apply to a FEW schools now, and save yourself a couple hundred dollars. Then, if you do well, go ahead and add them. Maybe apply to a few schools now that, even if you did "bad," would be a safe bet for you. If I do poorly I will also be waiting until next april.

Who thinks that the May 31st mcat was the hardest mcat that has been administered recently based on feedback from those who took it and if you took it, wasn't that the most abstract weird test youve taken?

It was most certainly not the most difficult test I've ever taken...

It was not what was expected from the practice tests though.

I felt the verbal was harder than anything AAMC 3-10 had.

At the same time, I think a lot of people are going to say that this test was the hardest test ever made to make themselves feel better and hope for a big curve. Or maybe it really was harder? I dunno.

I took 5 kaplan full-lengths and all of the AAMC ones, and that test was definitely harder than any of them. +pissed+

i am applying to DO schools only so it's not like i will be crying if i get a score in lower 20's...I just figured that my lowest practice score was 22 so even if i get that I will not be retaking this stupid test. I am applying this monday just like i planned. Despite this ******ed MCAT I do have a feeling that everything was comming together for me really well so I just know it can't be really bad.
I worked my butt off for all these years, took 23 credit hrs last semmester (and killed it😀 despite being paranoid i will screw up). At this point I just know it HAS to be OK.and if it's not i rather go to Caribbean school then take this ******ed exam again.

Does anyone know if they post on exactly the predicted date (July 3)? Or will the scores be up a little earlier?

when is something insoluble versus slightly soluble. If it has a ksp value at all its gotta be slightly soluble right?

I might as well chime in, I have been trying to forget I ever took that god awful test, but I guess its time to accept it. It was easily the hardest test i've taken. I took like 6 Kaplan FL and 3 AAMC ones, and it was completely different. I feel like I wasted all those weeks studying and that I did exceptionally bad. My range was between a 28 and 32 with my diagnostic a 22, and I honestly feel like I got something like in the mid to low 20s on the real thing. I was planning on starting to fill out apps today, but I really feel like its gonna be a huge waste. Oh well, might as well hope for the best and prepare for the worst...

Definitely the hardest test I've ever taken. After averaging in the mid 30's on all the practice tests if I can get a 28 on that hard thing I think I'll be satisfied.

I feel exactly the same. I was averaging mid 30's to high 30's and I am really just hoping and praying for a 30. It truly was extremely difficult but I am (as I am sure that everyone else here who took it is) confident that I did the best I could possibly do given the extremely hard passages. Best of luck to all who took it, I have strong hope that we will all be pleasantly surprised.

That should be correct. Ksp=[products]/[reactant]. Since the reactants are solid, they are ignored in the equilibrium equation. So K=[products]=[solutes]. If the substance does not dissolve, [solute]=0=Ksp, if it is slightly soluble, [solute] is slightly greater than 0, if it its completely soluble, its Ksp will be very high.

it would be safer to say that the choices presented on an MCAT question with a Ksp value are solube to an extent. Which is the most soluble out of the bunch is determined by the highest Ksp value.

which Kaplan passages does everyone is talking about? Which tests are those?

I agree. I didn't really feel that confident on the PS or BS sections, which are usually my best. Verbal seemed ok to me, except I ran out of time on the last passage and had to guess a few. BS, that one with the mRNA markers baffled me, saved it for the end and ended up having to guess most of those as well. I was scoring in the 30-35 range on the practice tests. I am just hoping for a 30+ score so I don't have to re-take.

cave passage and positive thinking passage were just ridiculous. tough PS passages and some weird discretes that I had a tough time with. Bio was pretty good except the discretes were very memorization based on tangential topics (SHAPE of the CELL!)

Yeah, the shape of the cell question was annoying. I convinced myself that I only really needed to understand concepts for the MCAT and avoided memorizing too many details. And then that question popped up...

guys, let it go. it's over now stop dwelling on it.
Listen to my advice:
1- Get drunk
2- have sex with random women (tell them you've just got accepted to med school and you will make more money than they can spend)
3- dump them the next morning
4- repeat steps 1-3 as necessary

You'll thank me tomorrow.

I got the cell shape question right by using process of elimination, but it was pretty random for a discrete.

Edit: actually I also vaguely remember going over that fact in my developmental biology class, but I couldn't remember it at the time during the test. It definitely was not basic bio info.

hardest mcat ive taken, ive taken aamc 3-10
i went from avg 35ish to praying for 30
the 1st 3 passages from physical sciences were ridiculous
and the physiology from the bio was so tough

I didn't have anything about a cell shape...Are all the tests given on any given exam day the same, or are there some variations?

I had that question too, and answered it like you guys did, but I went back through some notecards and started to wonder if the solubility rules come into play?? Because I searched online and some insoluble compounds still had low ksp's...

Stupid nerves got the best of me on test day..

I vaguely remember being told that everything is soluble to a certain extent. That's where the Ksp comes into play.

Can someone please explain to me the difference between slightly soluble and insoluble? I'm wondering if this is subjective...

I don't know what part of NO MCAT QUESTIONS OR ANSWERS MAY BE POSTED ON SDN some of y'all can't understand. But I hope everyone understands this: starting right now, anyone who posts ANY specific MCAT information (questions, answers), or asks other people to provide specific MCAT information, is going to have their account post held for a week. You REALLY don't want the AAMC to crack down on you; any other blemishes on your app will look minor in comparison to being accused of cheating on the MCAT.
