"In the practice of medicine, who you are as a person is just important as what you know," stated Katherine Treadway to medical school students as she was teaching about the art of compassion. What a rich quote...I sincerely hope physicians continue growing as humanistic providers...that is why I got on this wave...cheesey, I know. 😀

One the note of my thread, nonetheless...

...My interviewers really seemed like they wanted to get to know me as person. I interviewed at five different schools and each interviewer, whether she or he was a practicing physician or faculty D.O., M.D., Ph.D, Admissions Director, or Med Sudent, my interviewrs really made me feel like the were interested in listening to me express myself...good open ended questions..It should be noted that I am making this assumption based on the type of questions they asked me and ease I felt sitting their in question...

What makes you happy?

You have already told us why you are a good fit for medicine, but tell us why medicine is a good fit for you? (kinda chewy)

Talk about a mistake...yes, one that you still to this day regret?

Briefly describe the correlations you see between the results of the Stanford Prison Experiment and the effects of a physician's leadership roles in health care management?...This was a duezzy!...believe it or not, this question was asked by a second year...I might use it someday!

What a trip this has been. It would be nice to share our thoughts for future interviewees (is this a word?). Peace.
