Thoughts on reusing essays as a reapp?

I am applying to some of the same schools that I did last cycle. These schools did not interview me and I think it was primarily from my ECs and primary app (from a couple consultations I had this seemed to be the problem). I have re-written many of my essays because some of them could have been better but for others, my answer will be the same to stuff like "why our school?" and some others. If I reuse the essays, I will of course make some changes so its not a direct copy and paste but is it fine to reuse these instead of re-typing if the essay is going to more or less say the same thing as before?

Yes, so long as you've "freshened" them up so they're not a direct copy.

But check the final entry after you copy-and-paste to be sure there's no weird formatting, stray extra characters, etc, besides possible typos.
