So far, USC and UDM.

Some of the school like USC never metioned about TOEFL on their website.

However, the admission told me that I have to take TOEFL unless I am a

citizen or permanent resident...

what school require them?

hmm that's new to me. but when you take the DAT they will see how you do in "english reading". however, that's a weird requirement.

Right.

Even though I have lived in the States for more than 7 years, I am still an international student.

Also I graduated high school in the States, and have B.S from the US institution.

But still, they said because my status is international student, I must take TOEFL

And do not try to comment on this thread AlbinoPolarBear because you are not freaking international student

You can exempt from TOEFL if you have done 4 year degree in US university

I talked with admission ladies (Pittsburgh, USC, UDM).

They told me that I must take TOEFL even though I graduated from 4 year

degree in US university. They said if student's status is F1

(except Canadian), he/she has to take TOEFL 100 or higher

No...some state schools also accept internationals...I got into UMDNJ, even though stats say they do not accept or interview any international applicants...you may want to check with specific schools...also students who have a completed a 4 year degree from a US university/college are exempt from Toefl..all you need are you pre-reqs, bachelors degree and DAT scores to apply...letters of rec, research etc will ofcourse enhance the application..

Okay, but as I said, I contacted some schools that I have applied, most of them don't require TOEFL because I graduated from US institution. However, some schools such as USC, UDM, and Pittsburgh told me that I must take TOEFL even though I graduated from US instituion because I am F1 visa holder.

I don't really see the point of taking TOEFL to be honest if you have graduated from a US Institution.....you had to know English well enough to pass college 😆

After 4 yrs of undergrad in US, the TOEFL is a joke. I took it after living in the US for 7 years and with 2 yrs of community college and I scored almost perfect.

If you have the chance, take it before your DAT, that way you learn how to pace yourself for a long computer based test and figure out what works for you in those kinds of situations. It will make you a lot more confident about the DAT. So now you can see how taking the TOEFL can be a positive thing 🙂

Are international students at any disadvantage when applying to dental schools? (higher DAT, GPA)

I have PR status in Canada but citizenship of S.Korea.
Am I considered a Canadian applicant?( going to univ. in Canada)

hi, I was soooo confused when I looked at the stats in ADEA official guide. There are hundreds of applicants, but only few of them got accepted. Why ? Don't all the the applicants have good grades, score ,and excellent ec ? why they don't even get an interview spot?
