lol "threat", might want to edit the title 😉
Wow...6 years of 4.0? How many credits/majors/degrees do you have?
Congrats on sticking in there, enjoy your success!
Congrats on sticking in there, enjoy your success!
GPA: 3.0 overall, 3.0 science, 3.2 BCP. Last 6 years however have been 4.0. Horrible first experience at college.
DAT: 21/22/20
Decent ECs
Acceptances: Roseman, Minnesota, UMKC, Western.
If this is what you really want, it will happen for you. Don't give up.

Thanks. Well, after my college graduation I worked full time in industry. I started part time (post bacc) a couple years ago then full time the last year and a half. Over 50 credits at 4.0.
The most important thing that an applicant can do is to ACTUALLY call the school and visit to find out what they need to do. I followed the advice, and achieved at a high level. Everyone can do this, I just depends on how bad you want it.
Good luck everybody!
I have a 3.1 science GPA, I was accepted to 6 schools today. I would consider that on the "lower" end.
I had a 3.3GPA, 19AA undergrad....but am a semesters away from completing a masters degree in Biology (4.0GPA) and retook DAT - 21AA. It was definitely tough not hearing back from dental schools the first time around (applied for c/o 2014), but there are many ways to pick yourself up (post-bacc, masters etc) You just gotta dig deep and know that if its something you truly want to do, then put in the hardwork and youll reach there eventually. BTW I got three acceptances just today so its possible! 👍
Got accepted to NYU with a 16 RC and 16 QR... but everything else in my app is pretty flawless tho

accepted to Maryland with 3.3 gpa... but I'm also an in-stater
Low undergrad GPA. See predents profile.

Applied to 15 schools. 2 rejections(UNLV and Indiana) and 2 Acceptances from LECOM and UDM. 3.3 overall and science GPA, 3.8 post bachelor GPA with all 300 level biology courses. 21AA 22TS 21PAT 22RC.
These past two years I worked my tail off for this day. I declined countless activities/events that my friends and family planned so I could study and improve my stats. Coming out of undergrad I was sitting on a 3.1 overall and 2.9 science. I knew I had to excel in every course I took and the DAT. If you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything. Two years ago I never thought I would see this day but man it makes this day so much sweeter. If you didn't get the acceptance you were hoping for remember this is only the beginning and interviews go up to next May for some schools so keep chugging along...it will come if you put the time and effort in.

Congrats on UDM!! I also received an acceptance today and I couldnt be happier. Its a great school. You are spot on about networking, it is sooooo VALUABLE!!! Visit the school, talk with students, get your name and face out there and great things will come I promise.
Perhaps you didn't proofread your essays?
umm, isn't it supposed to be "than" and NOT "then" lol? I think the original poster had correct grammar! hahahahaha

Fail troll is fail
accepted with an 18 TS and 3.4 GPA.
Not low, but extremely average.
oGPA: 3.48
sGPA: 3.33
AA: 19, TS: 18, PAT: 20
Had some great traveling experience, a year of biomedical research, and some volunteer stuff. I was also plagued by my dental advisors annoying inability to write a committee letter before August. Otherwise my app would have been first mail out and I probably would have had more success. Very happy with 1 school though.

Perhaps it was your cynicism.i dont get it, am i supposed to have perfect english on a random board? You troll
luckily i got accepted to my top choice but Im still curious about this.
Even though you did a fantastic job at the interview, the school still looks at the overall application? so they look at DAT and GPA again to make a final decision (i mean notifying you on Dec 1st) ??
OR
if you're invited to an interview, your GPA and DAT is good enough. So the school wouldn't care much about GPA &DAT when they make a final decision.
WHICH ONE IS IT?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the first one is true, whether you had an interview at August or November, it doesn't really matter. -> safe to make that assumtion right?
so pre-Dec Interviewees are competing against other pre-Decs all throughout from August to November??
(approx. 350 for 70 spots? roughly)
Can anyone answer these 3 questions for me?

I think it had alot to do with the classes I chose to take and the reason my GPA was so low. I took a great number of master's level classes as an undergrad out of curiosity and since I was technically an undergrad, and not enrolled in a master's program they counted toward my undergrad gpa. They were classes I clearly didnt need like Drug Chemistry, Plant Pathology, Epidemiology etc, I really kind of went off the deep end lol I graduated with 165 credits.
I also took a year off to do research abroad which my interviewers seemed to like a lot.
I'm definately the poster child of "it can be done"
I got in to UIC, SIU, NYU, and UK --- and was rejected just from the schools that make cuts based on numbers instead of looking into the reasons behind them.
Ukee, You just gave me so much hope!!! I plan on applying this summer, and have been absolutely freaking out everyday that my grades will keep me from getting accepted. I have relatively lower stats too, in comparison to what the majority of people who are getting accepted have. Congrats to everyone who got accepted this cycle. For any of you, was this your first, second, third time applying?
Accepted to one school with oGPA 3.02 sGPA 3.08 DAT AA20 TS19 PAT 22

Did you visit schools that aren't in your state? I have wondered if the cost/time this would take would be worth it for out of state schools. What is your opinion on going about this?

I don't think visiting means very much to them, but the counseling (which can be achieved over the phone or e-mail) is very valuable. Every semester that I registered for was reviewed by the director of admissions (state school). He would give advice and answer any questions that I had. There were many times that I flat out asked "what else should I do," and other ideas were given.
So in short, visiting for face time is unnecessary, and the friends I have who have done it have been rejected by each of those schools they visited. Not worth the cost and time. I would visit your state school as often as possible though. Shadow in the clinic, meet faculty and other students, and get some much-needed feedback (they care about their residents more it seems).

Good luck!!!!! It was my first time, but I was class of 2010 and took a year off before applying. I have no idea what would have happened had I applied last year.
IMO, I believe Dental school look at your science GPA, DAT, Character..
Here's my story, I got great grades during school while working full-time. However, my DAT score was a complete bummer. I got a 17AA, with 14 in math and 16 in Reading. I also did most of my undergrad at a CommC. I believe too many studentdoc ppl believe it is about stats. Character plays a huge role, my admission essay had them telling their spouses about me. Every interview i attended they mention that they loved my essay and they couldn't wait to meet me. I got accepted to all 3 schools because I had great communicating skills in my interview. I am fortunate to be accepted and I know I am blessed. I just want to share my story b/c there's hope. God Bless

Check my predents. I am the epitome of mediocre and I got two acceptances. I think I got them due to good interviews and lots of EC's.
Our stats are almost identical.. I received 3 acceptances and 1 wait list.. I think my personal statement and EC's helped. My interviews weren't bad but I wouldn't say I blew them out of the water either..

I have similar DAT scores and the same AA. I believe this is the part of my app. holding me back. Just out of curiosity, what year were you accepted and what schools did you apply to?

Baylor, San Antonio, Houston... There avg Dat scores were 20, I was shocked when I heard that. Get better in other areas. I know friends who did better than I and didn't get an interview. Personality plays a role. If you can display personality and integrity on paper, they will give you a chance at interviewing you. It's all fair game in the interview.

I applied to ten schools, got ten interviews, went on seven of them.
Accepted to University of Maryland, UF, Nova, NYU, Temple, Tufts and USC
Congrats on all you acceptances but i dont really think your stats are mediocre

2011 adea handbook pegs those schools at around a 19AA.
