Ties and shirts for every day stylish dressing in the clinic

So much advice..........

I'd be ok spending some of my work study money on a couple upper end shirt/tie combo's (i.e. the brooks brothers link), there's just so much to choose from. I suppose a first step is to analyze what colors I already have and to work off of that.

For the time being, went with gf to the mall and had her help - I do prescribe to the notion that girls are pretty good at dressing guys. White w purpule striped shirt + purple tie, and pink tie for another shirt purchased.

I need a shirt that will go with a tie very similar to this one in the pink because i just bought the pink tie and my old j crew white shirt with light pink stripes has ripped. Any suggestions?

Anyone else have favorites on the brooks brothers site - perhaps a suggestion or two on a shirt/tie combo from the site?

Perhaps I should have more than one white shirt? Perhaps a couple with variations...like what they seem to call the 'oxford striped dress shirt'?

Again, thanks for all the input.

I don't know anything about dressing up so usually just keep it really conservative and do white dress shirts with dark dress pants.

Is it ok to wear light blue shirts with dark dress pants? I know wearing "black and blue" is bad, but at what point does a shirt become "too blue" to wear with dark pants?

I don't think there's anything wrong with light or even medium blue with black dress pants, although I'd prefer a charcoal dress pant, personally.
