Can someone explain how tight junctions work in the kidneys. Why would damaged tight junctions lead to malabsorption? Also, why do hyperglycemics absorb less electrolytes?

Get yourself a good histology book or consult Dr. Google. The answers to both of your questions can be easily obtained in any good medical library. Anything that you look up yourself, you won't forget.
