Time for a 3rd shot?
Started by jwk
Definitive yes.Who's going to be in line for the booster shot when it becomes available in September?
I want the most recent operating system for my microchip so definitely yes. Gotta keep things secure from the haxxors.Who's going to be in line for the booster shot when it becomes available in September?
I will get one if there is benefit to me. Have not examined the data. Feeling under the weather for the day or so(post vaccine fatigue/malaise) even for a moderate benefit would be a good deal.
No got the 2nd dose early june. I'll wait at least until january and see where we are at then

That’s reasonable. I got my 2nd dose in early January so I’ll be more than 8 months out and will get a booster.
got moderna so unless data shows me a big waning immunity like pfizer then i will hold off
I had a single dose of Pfizer and had a bad reaction so I didn’t get the 2nd dose. Checked my antibodies last month which were on the lower side. Took the J&J. I’ll check antibodies again in a year if this mess is still killing people.

Good luck. People are dropping like flies out here. Clotting up everywhere, losing limbs, ending up on ecmo, etc.

Had a guy die in icu today who also only did a partial completion because of symptoms. Can’t imagine any symptoms are worse than being in the icu.I had a single dose of Pfizer and had a bad reaction so I didn’t get the 2nd dose. My favorite when I was rounding in the ICU two weeks ago was a lady with covid ARDS. We're proning her off and on for two days. We get some volume off with CRRT and oxygenation is improving. She's finally supine and stable enough for a SAT/SBT. Except when all the sedation is off she's not moving. Pupil is blown. We go down to the scanner. Massive multifocal strokes everywhere. Family withdrew two days later. Good stuff.Good luck. People are dropping like flies out here. Clotting up everywhere, losing limbs, ending up on ecmo, etc.

What symptoms?
Even the covid loss of taste and the "long covid" psych bull**** can last for months, if not years.
Also, death is permanent.
But it's also well tolerated. Also, death is permanent.
Damn I didn’t know I was being interrogated. I had 22 days of body aches, skin burning, fatigue, and weight loss. I was advised by our pulm/critical care to not get the 2nd dose of Pfizer. What symptoms?

The whole world needs to lock down simultaneously at the same time to get out of this pandemic. A real lockdown Wuhan style. Otherwise this virus is just gonna circle around the world ; hopping from Europe to USA to South America to India to Africa to South East Asia and then back to Europe and USA. It slowly going to morph into an airborne black death with a mortality of 100%. We will be forced to leave Earth or else get wiped out like the dinosaurs.
And how to enforce this whole world lockdown. Obviously rich countries will have to open their wallets just so that people in Nigeria and Brazil can not work for a month without starving. But it can be done. Put a 1 time 95% wealth tax on all the billionaires of this world. These billionaires will still be stupendously rich but at least life can go as it was prior to 2020.

Yes, when I was in the ICU as a resident in April we saw a bunch of big strokes. Is it? We flog a lot of basically dead people in the icu until they are dead dead. Who knows how much they suffered from that expensive, slow torture? Nose necrosis from prone position, gut ischemia from pressors, clotting, bleeding, trips to the scanner, trips to the OR for ex laps, trips to IR for t tubes, g tubes and drains.

Most of mine never come back to life enough to know if they even had strokes. 2-3 weeks of paralysis with refractory hypoxia then withdraw. Next.Yes, when I was in the ICU as a resident in April we saw a bunch of big strokes. Makes the severe ARDS seem like not a big deal.
Yes. We already have good data that vaccine effectiveness is waning. The evidence is quite strong imo. We are considered a high risk group and we all know delta is on a different level in its ability to do serious damage. It's always better to act early than act too late. Michael Ryan of the WHO gave countries this advice at the beginning of the pandemic and it's as if no one listened to it or followed it at any point lol.

The problem in society we have at the moment is everyone is afraid of making a mistake. Everyone is afraid of the consequence of error. But the greatest error is not to move. The greatest error is to be paralyzed by the fear of failure."

I will!Who's going to be in line for the booster shot when it becomes available in September?
But I think that you guys and your peers have first shot at it, so to speak.
Me. I had my second Pfizer shot January 4th.Who's going to be in line for the booster shot when it becomes available in September?

Ah, the words of a bureaucrat that could be used to justify every bad government action throughout history. I think I hear some in charge of the chaotic poorly thought out Afghan withdrawal typing up these words as we speak.
In dhb's defense, he's only referring to tolerating the pulseless lifeless state after all medical flogging has failed. Is it? My work is definitely disconnected from your reality. That sounds like hell on earth.Good luck. People are dropping like flies out here. Clotting up everywhere, losing limbs, ending up on ecmo, etc.

All these jokers on the em forums ranting and raving about freedoms while our healthy 30 year olds are losing legs from covid. These are actually healthy people with no previous medical problems, not "va healthy".
Yeah are we really talking about ICUs full of healthy 30y/o on ECMO? Because that would be very concerning 1.5 y a virus that was dropping pre mortem 80 y/o has muted without a zoonic phase to be this leathal. All these jokers on the em forums ranting and raving about freedoms while our healthy 30 year olds are losing legs from covid. Well, being obese is not healthy, especially pertaining to COVID. Even if vaccinated.Fat but how many young fat people do you know are getting bkas just from being fat?

I get your point. COVID is killing and maiming young people that would otherwise be doing okay.but how many young fat people do you know are getting bkas just from being fat?
Israeli national HMO Maccabi Healthcare Services, which conducted the preliminary study of 149,144 Israelis who received three Pfizer shots, said for Israelis above age 60, a Pfizer booster shot reduced the chances of infection by 86% and reduced the chances of severe infection by 92%.
Got mine three weeks ago. All three doses Pfizer. Sore arm, that's it. Didn't have symptoms with any of the three shots.
As soon as a third dose is offered, I’m getting it. Zero hesitation. I’m in my 30s, healthy, active, and I’d like to keep it that way. If things start getting bad in my area again I’d have a pretty low threshold to just go to a local pharmacy and sign up for my “first dose”.
The third shot is available right now. I know many people are just getting it who are healthy. The pharmacist doesn't ask any questions other than "are you immunocompromised" in any way? No proof is required or doctor's note/Rx.As soon as a third dose is offered, I’m getting it. Zero hesitation. I’m in my 30s, healthy, active, and I’d like to keep it that way. Dozens of nurses, housewives are getting the third shot now. Even my hospital isn't asking any questions. So, if you are in a high risk area like mine where more than 1/2 of the population isn't immunized I recommend you do not wait. I am being forced to treat Covid + with pneumonia routinely so my personal protection includes a third shot.
Follow Israel's model in getting that third shot now and do yourself and your family a favor. Your life may depend on it.
Some people are getting a 3rd Covid shot. Getting it too soon could backfire, Fauci says.
"I felt I needed to be as protected as I could," said one person who got an early booster shot.
"What's the third dose going to do?" Faust said. "Is a third dose going to hospitalize more people for myocarditis than we're actually getting in return for the third dose of vaccine coverage? We literally don't know."

Myocarditis Tied to COVID-19 Shots More Common Than Reported?
Myocarditis may develop rapidly in younger people, mostly after the second dose, while pericarditis affects older adults after either the first or second dose; both remain rare, new results show.
• A third booster dose of mRNA vaccines may increase the number of people with heart inflammation side effects. These issues are mainly seen in previously vaccinated people.
• Underreporting of mRNA vaccines’ heart inflammation is a possibility since people with milder symptoms do not seek medical attention.
• Adenovirus-vectored vaccines’ thrombosis and thrombocytopenia is unlikely with boosters as these rare side effects are primarily observed with the first dose.
More people may experience COVID-19 mRNA vaccines’ rare heart inflammation side effects if they are deployed as boosters, experts said. This is due to myocarditis and pericarditis issues mainly observed in people who have previously received an mRNA vaccine dose. However, experts emphasized that the benefit of receiving a booster would still outweigh the risk of having these side effects.
In people who have had milder forms of myocarditis and pericarditis with the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech’s vaccine, symptom severity may increase with the third dose, but there is overall limited data to conclude this as a possibility. As for people who previously sought medical attention for their acute symptoms, it may be best to switch vaccine technologies with the third shot, experts added.

Covid-19 mRNA vaccine booster outlook positive despite heart inflammation risk
Pfizer drew headlines this month when it raised the idea of an emergency authorization for its COVID-19 mRNA vaccine booster to combat the Delta variant. But what does this mean for its rare heart inflammation side effects?
Pfizer and Moderna have gauged side effects from a third shot tantamount to the primary course -- fever, sore arm and fatigue -- while the rare risk of more serious side effects, like myocarditis, remains.
Faust points out the clinical trial data and real-world success of the vaccines have been an undeniable "slam dunk" thus far, but third doses are uncharted territory.
"The science on this is unavailable. And that's not a place where we've been before," Faust said, noting the risk of myocarditis has shown to happen more frequently after the second mRNA dose.
"What's the third dose going to do?" Faust said. "Is a third dose going to hospitalize more people for myocarditis than we're actually getting in return for the third dose of vaccine coverage? We literally don't know."

Why you shouldn't rush to get a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot before it's your turn
You're likely still protected, for now.
So we acknowledge that a third shot too soon may worsen risk of side effects, yet in the thread "vaccinated vs natural immunity" some will deny the possibility that two shots administered an unknown/unspecified period after active infection can't possibly increase side effect risk?
