Time Limitation on Required Courses?

Do most medical schools have a set time cut-off regarding the acceptance of the required science courses? I took Inorganic Chem 1 in Spring of '98 and received an A and would rather not take it over again when I apply (hopefully) in '07. I've heard conflicting information regarding this matter. Some say it does not matter as long as you did well while others feel that some schools have a specific cutoff, such as 5 or 10 years. Any input would be appreciated.

I had this question too and talked to my premed advisor about it. I remember seeing 7 years on some schools websites as the time frame for coursework, while other schools didn't seem to say anything on the matter. My advisor said that as long as you continue to take upperlevel science course work, you'll be fine. So if youve taken advanced science classes more recently than 98', you'll be fine. If youve only taken the premed reqs in the sciences, you may have to take some more advanced classes, like biochem before applying (this would also look better than retaking inorganic, where you got an A already). Med schools probably vary, so you should probably call and check with the admissions offices of the schools you are thinking of applying to.
