MSPEs have been out for a week. Rejected from Brigham on Friday, and no news to day. Still waiting to hear from UW, Oregon, Duke, UNC, and Cornell. They've all been documented to give out invites. Is it probably time to call it and assume I' won't be getting an invite from these folks?

i sure hope not :/ i still haven't heard from nyu, columbia, cornell, BID, pitt, UW

or maybe it is: rejections from nyu, uw, and BID just came in.

I'm wondering the same thing. I haven't heard from two programs that have both given out invites but I'm considering my interview schedule set at this point (but will work those last two in if I'm lucky enough to get an interview invite later in the game).

Figuring no harm in making calls this late in the process, I called several silent programs. I received one interview, 2 rejections and 3 "we're still reviewing applications but we'll put a note on your file with your interest noted." And just because it's the time of season, I received an official rejection, as expected, from NYU. Does anyone think the large number of mid tier programs are now finished with interview invitations? Any input on the general number of ob applicants this year? I can't get a good feel for my peers. I am DO, well above average, with solid references, grades, performance, research and awards. Comlex Step 2 definitely a weakness. I chose DO over 3 MD programs - no regrets but some unanswered questions. 10 interviews allopathic with no USMLE. Should I focus on the scramble? My interviews seem positive but I can't read this process at all. Any advice, post away or PM me. And I still have 10 non-responsive programs that I may or may not call.

it's getting pretty competitive man. a lot of the emails i get say they have had over 600 applicants and most only offer 80-100 interviews.

It could just be a more competitive process this year (or at least that's what I'll tell myself).

Just today (maybe they heard my woes), I received an interview invite from Cornell out of the blue. I also received an invite after sending an email to Oregon. I agree, I think now is the time to start contacting programs, if only to receive confirmation of rejection. For those that did, do you reach out to the PC or the PD? How do you get a phone number if none is listed on the applicants page of their residency website?

Telephone number from ERAS or from APGO or from program website. I was told 600 applications from 2 different schools. However, is this a typical number or not?

Who knows. Not sure what significance it has of why it matters. The number of applicants will continue to grow annually.

At one of my interviews last week, we were told that they received over 400 applications and will only be able to interview about 120 - they normally receive between 200 and 300. They also mentioned that the quality of this year's applicants is really really good. It's a luck of the draw at this point, I think!

Just an update for people who are wondering if everything's done at this point. I called all the places I hadn't heard from yesterday and today and it was actually quite productive. Close to half of them gave a concrete response (interview, rejection, wait list), while the others said they're still considering people. Everyone was very friendly on the phone, so I don't think it hurts. Not every program asked for my name though, so I wasn't sure if I should offer it or just assume they don't care if you call. Thoughts?
