Since you all have been through the process already, I was looking for some advice on what is the best way to spend your time while waiting for interview invites? I am a non-traditional student and I have completed all of my secondary applications, so outside of my job and volunteer activities I am just waiting. Is there something I could be doing to help my applications? Maybe contacting the schools or something? I am volunteering at a free clinic, at a hospital and as an EMT so I am not sure there is more I could do there, but would working to get some more shadowing experiences be worthwhile?

I haven't done this before, but I am in the same boat as you. I'm just waiting, working, and volunteering. I'm using this time to try to keep myself interesting for a potential interview. I'm trying to read interesting things (something I didn't have time for in undergrad), take up a new hobby (running, maybe duathalon?), and keep up friendships with people in other cities since I hope to be swallowed up by med school work next year. Those are just my suggestions, maybe someone who's done this all the way through could suggest somethign else?

Just keep doing what you are doing. If you need to brush up on your interview skills, then you can see what I did in the FAQ. I would suggest keeping up on current events. I usually read CNN.com daily to get an idea of what was going on in the world.

Be cool, and wait it out. Your time to shine will come soon enough.

Thanks for the advice. I figured there was really nothing I could do but wait, work and volunteer. Best of luck to you clockwork, and congrats on your admittance and dedication Rxn.
