I want to complete the apps as soon as possible but that would take time away from my mcat prep. Should I go ahead and complete the applications or wait until after the mcat?

Also on the secondaries, how are ya'll answering the question about why ya'll want to go the prospective schools? Just through info online?

Thanks.

Finish your applications EARLY... the last thing you want is to be completing your application files in November!!! Remember, you have to get your LORs to the med schools, too...

Why a certain school? That can have lots of answers. Definitely look through the information online, but also don't leave out personal reasons (family close by, etc)

Submit everything you can EARLY! Most schools will let you sumbit everything and then put your app on hold pending your new mcat if you indicate you are taking it in August. You want it so that as soon as the mcat scores come in you can submit them and wait for an interview. Also, submitting your score updates to aacom can take up to a month by the time the schools get them. I would recommend calling each school the day you get your results and ask them if you can fax or email your results. I did this and every school but one was totally fine with it. In fact, I had my first interview offer less than a week after emailing my results.

well, how much time did everyone spend on the essay questions?

How long was everyones responds to
'why do you want to be an osteopath, and why do you want to come to our school?

won't the schools have to wait for my august mcat scores for my application to be complete?

I already have a few secondaries however I wont be doing them until after the 20th. Then i will knock them out in a few days and have most of them sent in by early sept.

not doing mine till after august 20th, but for sure before the mcat scores are close to come out. Most schools dont review your application without mcat, so whats the point of wasting study time right now?

thats what I was thinking. Or will the schools interview you anyways and just wait to see how you did?

Here's the point... after you complete you app, it's going to take WEEKS for the application service to process you. You'll be getting secondaries right about the time the MCAT scores come out so now you'll be at a disadvantage over other students who's files are complete except for the MCAT scores.

My advice is, send in your apps right away to give yourself the best chance possible.
