How long does it take after I apply for the loans to go through?

If school starts August 1st, is there a time when I have to apply? What is the latest I can apply for the loans and still get the money for the first day of class?

I believe it depends on you school and lender.... But I was told If you have started the process it can take as little as 48 hrs. You go on line and the lender works with your school. at my school... you can even start school without being complete as long as the lender has contacted your school and you have signed your prom. note..... But if you need money for housing... all money has to be funded...(and it isn't funded until school starts you don't want to pay interest for an extra month) the school takes what they need for tuition (for 6 months) and the can cut you a check for the balance or let you take monthly withdraws. I am not sure about this time line as they have the entire class to process so they may be slow. It is best to have money set aside until they fund you. I hope this helps
