Hey all,

I was wondering about the timeline of all this stuff.. so any input would be appreciated 😕

I know that pharmcas opens in June (end of I think??) and you can start applying as soon as it opens up.. do most people apply that early? Do supplementals come out in June as well??

Also, when do schools start sending out interview invites generally? OR when do they start reviewing applications? It kinda seems like a lot of interview invites are sent out in october-ish from what I read on here.. but that could be way off.

and if you get an interview, how quick do you find out if you are accepted/rejected roughly??

THANKS EVERYONE!! <3 😍

1. PharmCAS becomes available beginning of June, I believe it was June 2nd this year.
2. Most people do not apply right away in June. It takes time to get your letters of recommendation, get your personal statement just right, have your PCAT scores sent it and all of your transcripts submitted. The better you apply the earlier, especially with rolling admissions schools. To find out if the schools you are applying to are on rolling admissions, look on their website or you can call them as well. I'd say definitely apply in the summertime or September. Your chances will increase significantly.
3. Some schools have supplementals right on their websites that you can submit as soon as you submitted your PharmCAS. Other schools send you the supplemental if they want more information from you. And yet other schools have a certain date when they make the supps available.
4. Schools that are on rolling admissions review applications as soon as they receive them. They generally send out interview invites/rejections as soon as they have reviewed the applications as well. Schools that are not on rolling admissions wait for all of the applications up until the deadline (most are in December, January, February) and then begin the review process.
5. After the interview, it all depends on the school. With Michigan I found out about 2 hours after the interview that I was accepted. With St.
John Fisher, it was a few weeks. You can ask them that question at the interview, they are usually good with that kind of information.

Good luck!

PharmCAS application opens June 1 and early decision closes around Sept 1. Yes, supplementals come out at the same time. Early decision and rolling admissions consider applications after Sept 1, and interview offers are sent out as early as mid-September and go from there. Schools that do not use these programs will consider all applications at once. Early decision applicants are required to be informed of their status ~1 week before Nov 1 (first deadline of the application cycle). Rolling admissions can inform you at any time. Good luck. 👍

So, is it advantageous to be done in June rather than Sept? Does that time period make a huge difference? I'm just deciding when to take my pcat - june or august =) Thanks again guys for the lengthy/ thorough responses!

If you're applying to a rolling admission school, the earlier you get your stuff in, the better! If you're not sure if the school you're applying to is rolling admissions or not... email them and ask.

Otherwise, it's a good idea to have your application, supplemental, etc submitted at least a month ahead of time just in case something is missing or gets lost.. it gives the school a chance to contact you and tell you you're missing something and you have time to fix it before the deadline.

the most important thing to do is let your letters of recommendation writers know you need a letter possibly by august. Even then, my profs required an email every week to "remind" them.
