Right now I am trying to determine the best time to schedule my DAT test date. Since my GPA is below 3.0 I know that I must kill the DAT; however, I am not sure how soon I should take the DAT after submitting my application to AADSAS. I have been told that it takes 4 -6 weeks for AADSAS to verify my transcript and send my application to dental schools. Most of the schools I have researched require my DAT score at the same time they receive my application. Though I have also been told that schools will simply not review my application until they receive my DAT score; in other words, they will not discard my application (perhaps due to my low GPA) if my DAT score does not arrive "at the same time".

My question is this: Should I take the DAT mid-July, will my application still be considered early? Or will postponing the DAT push my application back?

Any advice is appreciated!

Mid-July would still be considered early. Its not exactly perfect but if you need extra time to do really well on the DAT then you would best serve yourself to take some extra time for studying. It is true, schools will accept your application without your DAT, it's just held until they receive your scores. Good Luck!

Oh side note though, get your application submitted as soon as you can though.

I really appreciate your quick response!! Everything is confusing!!
