So I am in a six year pharmacy program. I'll be officially starting pharmacy school in the Fall after finishing the first two years. I volunteered at a hospital pharmacy last summer. This summer, I tried finding a job. I'm registered as a pharmacy technician with the state (didn't take the pharmacy technician exam) because the director at the hospital said there was a new law saying I needed to be.

I've had no luck in the places I applied. I had talked to various pharmacies during the winter break and a few places told me to come back in May to see if they have a spot open. Only 2 actually took an application from me. One said they would get back to me if they need me and not to call. One kept telling me to talk to the boss who would be in at - time. Each time they would tell me to call later or tomorrow.

One pretty much stopped taking my calls after two calls for some reason.

What should I do for now?

I'm going back to the hospital to volunteer. (This is the place that stopped taking my calls.)

Can volunteering also count for hours? Can I get those hours registered after the summer is done?

My state doesn't do internship hours, your pharmacy school hours are good enough. I'm asking because I go to school in Pennsylvania and would like to be registered in both states by the end.

Drop off resume at every pharmacy close to you. Then wait for calls

The biggest problem for me is that CVS requires us to come back during the school year and that is too difficult for me especially since I just got braces. I have no idea when I'll be required to come back for that and it pretty much takes me 3 hours for a one way trip not to mention the time it takes for me to get ready to go.

Owlegrad, I don't know for certain but does New Jersey do internship licenses? I heard that this state doesn't but maybe I am mistaken. I am going to see how I do next semester in my first official pharmacy school classes. If I am happier than with how this past year went, I'll consider trying to find a job in Pennsylvania during the year...which I really don't want to do but I guess I'll have to.

Just be up front with the pharmacy manager and tell them that it is too difficult for you to work during the school year because you have braces. I'm sure that they will accommodate you.

When do you guys think is it pretty much too late for anyone to hire me for summer break, maybe even winter break?
