Program-Specific Info / Q's tips on how to turn a school down after accepting?

Hello all. I am looking for any suggestions/tips on how to tell a school (in which you have already accepted a spot) that you will not be attending after all.

I got into a program back in Nov. and paid fees, accepted, etc. However, I just found out last Thursday that I was also accepted in a program that is close to home, costs WAY less, and was my first choice. I need to email the first school and tell them I am changing mind but am not sure the best way to go about this.

any suggestions?

Just be frank and professional about it. That you are grateful for the opportunity but have decided to pursue occupational therapy at another location. No need going into the specifics. I do think a phone call would be better than an email though.

I turned a school down after getting into another. Called them and then they told me I needed to send it in an email so that would have the proof
