Hi there! I just moved to Texas from Germany and my top choices for residency training are in Texas, as my husband and I would prefer not to move again (he's Texan). Unfortunately, my school is not on the TMB List of Substantial Equivalence. We're in the process of getting that done right now and have a couple of questions, as it is hard to reach someone at the TMB and if so, oftentimes they are not sure of the process, either.
1) Right now, it is me and another person from my school. The forms from the Z package ask for an applicant's name. We're only putting my name for now, as we assume that once the school is on the list, my friend does not have to go through the whole process again. Right?
2) We are also required to submit the N form to the FCSA. Do we do this BEFORE sending the Z package to the TMB?
3) Does anyone have any experience with this process and can share some insights? Like how long did it take, was a translation of the information into English for the Z package enough, etc.?
I should mention that most, if not all residency programs in Texas require the IMG applicant's medical school to be on the list of substantial equivalence upon starting residency training...this list is not the same as the world directory of medical schools!
Thank you so much!!
