You send a transcript to only TMDSAS, which will forward it to the schools. But the transcript you send has to include your spring grades.

You can check if your transcripts have been received by looking at your application/document status page on the TMDSAS website.

You only need to send one of each unique transcript. You can check the TMDSAS website for your status.

Wait, I was under the impression that you could only send your transcripts AFTER you had submitted your application.

Uh oh, I searched through the site looking for transcript instructions and I totally missed this bit. Does that mean that they'll throw away the transcripts that I sent off for a few days ago? 😡

No, they will not. I sent in mine before my primary as well.

You already have your spring grades?

Okay - am I just a dork? Where specifically do you enter future coursework in TMDSAS?

You enter it with all your other course work, except there is an option for you to label it as future coursework. Hope that helps!

question - if i have upcoming summer coursework, should i send the transcript from my new school even if it doesn't have any grades yet?

Heh, I only wish! But I have three other institutions where I was enrolled at previous stages in my life, so I already sent those transcripts in. 🙂

I still can't find where to put future coursework in TMDSAS

Write the class in like normal, but under grade put NY for Not Yet.

You can go ahead and submit the request and check off "send after final grades are available" on the form.

are psychology classes considered non science, or other science?

non-science. I wish they were other science.

They are considered social science, which is not a natural science (therefore not science.) Make sense? 😀

thanks guys, next,

are genetics, microbiology, etc (upper level bio classes) considered

Biology Lec and Lab
Bio Chemistry - Bio Dept
or other science

For the PS in section 8, do I indent and make actual paragraphs? Do I space between each paragraph? Or do they just want you to go from sentence to sentence?? Are you even able to indent?

Certainly NOT Biochemistry (Only Biochemistry = Biochemistry)

The more specific categories are to make sure that you have met the prerequisites, which are 12 hours of Bio. Lecture and 2 hours of Bio. Lab. Make sure that you have 12 hours of classes counted as "Biology Lecture" and 2 hours counted as "Biology Lab." The rest can be either Biology Lecture (and/or Lab, if appropriate) or Other Science.

I hope that makes some sense.

I think you can indent in the sense that you can put spaces to make the text move inwards, but each space is a character (and each line break is 2)

If you're close to the limit on characters - I'd skip that.

I'm starting on Wednesday. WISH ME LUCK!!

Don't get lazy you guys. GET THIS DONE. 👍

Just wanted to post some of the answers that I received from TMDSAS today.

First, as far as non-standard units go (see my post a page or two back) they SHOULD be converted to semester hours for the TMDSAS application. This is OPPOSITE of AMCAS, which says to enter them as they appear on your transcript and let them do the conversion.

Second, I asked, in detail, about the processing of the application.

Applications are not processed until June 1, regardless of how early you submit them. If you submit before June 1, it just sits there until June 1. I was told that application processing takes 1 - 2 WEEKS if submitted in early June, NOT 1 - 2 MONTHS. Applications are processed as soon as they receive the certification page, photos, and $$, regardless of whether LORs or MCAT scores have been received, so it is to your advantage to complete the application as early as possible (after June 1.) Applications ARE NOT sent to any schools until the application is complete, processed, and ALL supporting documentation (transcripts, LORs, and MCAT scores) has been received.

TMDSAS has spoken. I hope that is helpful information...

Good Luck All,

Jota

My application was officially processed a day after I was complete with TMDSAS. It's a good feeling to know the hard part's over.

I thought they weren't getting processed until June 1st?

One of us is getting bad gouge, and I don't know which! 🙁 I just wrote to ask how I handle the conversion (since I don't have a simple quarter-to-semester problem, but two different systems of seriously nonstandard credits) and the answer I received back was the TMDSAS will handle all conversions, quarter-to-semester, funny-credit, and otherwise.

That was an e-mail from Anne E Diamon, TMDSAS administrative asst, dated today.

I really hate it when we get two different answers to the same question!

Ugh. Does a third person want to call and ask to break the tie? Or, I'll call back right before I submit and see if I get the same answer.

Since we're on a bit of a TMDSAS bash, I have to admit I'm kind of pissed off that they didn't send a conformation e-mail when I registered with my PIN, or another one when I submitted my primary applicaton.

You've already sent yours? Kudos. They'll probably send you a snail letter when everything has been processed and sent. Meanwhile you'll have to check your application documents status every once in a while, although they can be slow. I was annoyed when one of my recommenders last year sent the LOR on May 1st, and TMDSAS never updated it until early August.

Another TX re-applicant here.

I just want to wish everybody good luck with this journey.

Regarding the PS for reapplicants: DO NOT submit the same one, some adcoms keep your old applications (source: UTMB admiss. staff). You need to show them your improvements from the last time you applied both in the section that asks for that specifically and on the PS.

once again, good luck! 👍

Hey,
How much can you really change though about yourself from last cycle? I am sure things have changed from last cycle etc, but your motivations etc would be the same, so how do you completely change the essay?

I agree. I am another Texas re-applicant here. Last cycle I was complemented on my personal statement about how well it was written. I simply changed what I thought was weak about it and added what I had currently been doing this past year. I guess each person should do what he or she thinks is best. You never know! P.S. Good luck to everyone! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Good luck on your applications. I would highly consider applying out of state to improve your chances.

Question for you guys in the known.

I took the April MCAT and am planning on taking the August one because I really feel that I didn't do as well as I could of (April MCAT was the first time I didn't finish the verbal section, so I think that might drop me 2 points or so from my average of 10 from practice tests).

Now if I submit my application around mid July with everything completed (including the April MCAT score) but check the I'm planning to take the August MCAT box, from experince or published information, will TMDSAS (or AMCAS) schools offer interview before the August score comes out in October?

Thanks,

Yes, I received the majority of my interviews before the August scores came out. I was in your same situation.

Does anyone know.... if engineering courses are listed as "other science" would nursing courses be considered "other science" as well?? I'm guessing yes being that they are pathophys/pharmacology types?

One more... I took first semester Gen Chem and then took Quantitative Analysis as my 2nd semester inorganic... as required for chem majors... will that fulfill my gen chem II requirement?

Thanks!

Looks like I've got two threads in a row of questions, hopefully someone responds!

On the Claim to Residency part of the application... is anyone else having a problem filling out parts E & F.... it won't let me fill them both out and save.... if i do both it keeps popping up that I haven't filled out one of the sections.... though I did..... and if I just do one section it keeps saying I need both... anyone have any ideas??????

Best to call TMDSAS on this one. Or, you can just pick that category for that class and see if it goes through. The requirement is 6 credits of inorganic chemistry lecture + 2 credits of inorganic chemistry lab, so as long as you satisfy that, you should be fine.

Thanks... and yeah TMDSAS considers it inorganic so it's all good!

Now just have to see how they classify Nursing sciences and how to fix the stupid residency section problem I'm having.

This isn't my situation, but I quickly looked at the application, and it looks to me like you can't complete both parts E and F. Either you are a dependent or an independent tax payer. Fill out the appropriate section based upon your status (sounds like you are a dependent if you are even tyring to fill out part F.)

For AMCAS, nursing classes are NOT considered science, but you should check with TMDSAS to see whether they are considered science for TMDSAS. Sorry, but I haven't taken any nursing classes.

Thanks jota, you def solved most of my problems!

I'm guessing the pathophysiology and pharmacology classes would be other science, but we'll see... I'll contact them **Crossing my fingers **

For the essay, does an empty line count as a line of text or just an character? ie will an empty line used to separate paragraphs count towards the 62 line limit or just an single character?

I'm not sure about the empty line counting as a character or line, but I guess you could just try and see what happens??

Does anyone know what the point is of listing other medical schools you are applying to? Do they think the more you have the less serious you are about Texas? Also... I won't have my definative list before I submit TMDSAS as I will submit before MCAT scores... so the list could be longer/shorter. Anyone have any input?

Just put what schools you think you'll be applying to. I think they just want to know for statistical purposes. I entered in that I was applying to Baylor, but I never did.

What?? That's crap. *grumble*fine, stupid hard science elitists*grumble
Btw, thanks.

In other news, dagnabbit, I entered all my courses (2 hrs) then went back to add a community college and it transferred all my hard work to the wrong school! Now I have to go back and do some major editing...

I guess it wouldn't be fair if pursuing your dreams didn't involve banging your head against the wall and going blind from the dizzying endlessness of spaces to fill in.

hey, im a reapplicant this year, but didn't do the tmdsas last year, do i need to tell them im a reapplicant? also, how hard is it as a non-tx resident?

EXTREMELY hard. Apply to many schools in other states as well.

I'm trying to fit my PS into the stupid box. Does anyone know if empty lines count as characters? Is anyone else using empty lines to separate their paragraphs?

from my experience, empty lines are counted as characters and you cant even indent for paragraphs
