Literally just finished filling everything out. Before pulling the trigger just wanted to make sure if you can or cannot make changes to your application after submitting? If so, to the whole thing or only certain parts?:scared:

They have made changes in the past upon request, but they will also bitch at you saying that you were supposed to review your application throughly before submitting.
 
1) How do you fix the problem of having 1 term showing up 5+ times?
2) If I cant fix 1 should I still submit?
3) Is it recommended to write a comment about every award, leadership position, etc.?
4) Are optional essay really supposed to be essays or paragraphs cause I doubt they want to read another lengthy essay? (I heard they only skim your Personal Statement cause they have 23432423 to go through. So i would expect numbers to speak louder than words)
 
Just in case any of yall had the same question about the Baylor secondary. The link takes you to a login screen and you have to create a new account to get to the secondary and fill it out.
 
I think they actually send it to you in the mail, unless they changed it. You are supposed to wait until they send it to you.
 
yeah i think last year they did send out secondary in the mail whenever they received your application.

i'll be submitting my application by this weekend.
here comes another long wait..

I think they changed it. This is from the email you get from TMDSAS after you submit:

Complete Secondary Applications
Secondary applications should be completed as soon as you submit your TMDSAS application. Links to the schools that require secondary applications can be found on the TMDSAS website under Application Instructions.

IDK, I went ahead and filled out the secondary and submitted. If they send me another one I'll fill that out too.
 
When I applied last cycle, you could access Baylor's secondary application online from their website in a .pdf file. I've read that some of y'all have said that you cannot find it or it says "website not found." Maybe they just haven't uploaded the 2010-2011 application... Just my two cents 🙂

It has changed. The TMDSAS website has the link for Baylor's secondary which takes you to a login screen, not the actual pdf secondary application. At the login screen you will need to create an account and you can then fill out and submit the secondary online.
 
hey guys, i just submitted my TMDSAS app. for this cycle.

quick question about Baylor secondary.
i have already filled out my optional essays for TMDSAS application which pretty much asks same question on Baylor's 2ndary application. would you guys put same thing on both or try to put different topics?
I forgot how i did it last year..

also anyone else having problem with TMDSAS not showing documents received correctly? I requested my DAT score about 2 weeks ago and still shows up as not received, and I have sent my LOR through electronically from Interfolio (which should be sent directly since they both use interfolio) but it still says as not received either...

but yeah good luck everyone. time to work on AADSAS application now

I put the same stuff on the Baylor secondary.

Yeah my DAT scores aren't showing either which is really frustrating since it cost me 95 bucks. I've got one LOR received and I'm not sure if the other ones have been sent yet.
 
I am about to finish up my application and requested my transcripts and the LOR's to be sent to DC to infolio. I was wondering could I submit my application before they get the LOR's and the transcript or do I have to wait until TMDSAS received everything. I know I can submit it without official DAT scores but what about the transcripts and LORs?

Anyone applying to Texas schools, has your status on TMDSAS changed? Have they reviewed anything? Transcripts, etc. Seems like TMDSAS is moving at a snail-like pace compared to AADSAS.
 
Is everyone just applying in state? Are there any out of state applicants here? I am really afraid I won't be able to get into Dental School in Texas because of my GPA so I am trying to figure out which out of state schools I should apply to. Also, is the AADSAS much different than the TMDSAS? I go to UT Austin but I am sure that doesn't mean much at all. Going to take the DAT tomorrow afternoon. And also, I am waiting on a Rec Letter from the Orthodontist that I shadowed but he is away on vacation for the next week, should I submit my application before I get the Rec Letter? I also need it before the Health professions office can put a cover letter on it.
 
I agree....with the snail thing. Its been almost 3 weeks and TMDSAS says it still hasnt received my transcripts....yet AMCAS has and I took care of both of them the same day. Go figure...I am getting kinda worried.

I am thoroughly confused with whole letter of recommendation thing. TMDSAS requires two letters of recommendation. Do they both have to be from science professors?

And I am also applying to out of state schools and using AMCAS....do I need to send a request via AMCAS and TMDSAS to letter writers?
 
They don't have to be from sci profs, but it is best if they are. You will need to give them both forms. It is quite simple.

I assumed you were. just give them one form with envelope and instructions paper clipped together and do the same for the other place you want the prof to send the letter.

They got all my transcripts(from three different schools). The schools sent my transcripts week ago and I know for sure one of the schools sent the transcript last Monday. Did you send your payment?

It is better to have two letters from science professors( one from Chemistry , one from Biology) haveing extra letter(third one) from None science professor will make your application stronger.
 
I'm pretty sure a lot of y'all know that Baylor requires a letter of recommendation from a licensed dentist (etc). I'm only mentioning it because I met a couple of people that applied via TMDSAS last year at my Houston interview who didn't know that and as a result didn't apply there.

Also for my Lor's my university has a pre-med/dent/vet committee that would write a letter of recommendation on my behalf, who in turn required 2-3 LOR's which I got from my boss (for a professional work ethic view point), a chemistry professor (for an academic standpoint) and a dentist I shadowed for two years (for baylor and the dental standpoint). The committee then wrote an LOR referencing those letters and I'm assuming sent TMDSAS a copy.

I'm not sure how obsolete this information is because of the "new" TMDSAS but I hope it helps!
 
I'm retaking the DAT this Friday. Does anyone know if the score submission to schools will show all my previous scores or just the most recent one? Thanks and good luck with apps.
 
Well, just like the title says. Got an email today that my app was sent out to the schools. Man TMDSAS is going thru these applications at supersonic speeds....it only took them 2 weeks, 2 days, 7 hours, and 20 min. after I e-submitted (alright kidding about the whole hrs. and min thing). They are ridiculously slow. And not to mention the whole annoying Interfolio thing where my transcripts are all there and my status still shows them as not being received. And you try to call to find out what all the hold up is and get grouchy people on the other line (slightly understandable due to the volume of calls on the subject), but I think that I submitted such a long time ago is also understandable that I'm getting a little fustrated with them. Just had to vent a bit. Feel better now thanks.

At least you got an email saying it was submitted to the schools. I just kept checking it and one day saw that it had been submitted. Still waiting on that email...

did you see it as submitted or like submitted to schools (which means sent to schools)?

bc mine says submitted but im pretty sure it has not been sent out to schools yet. someone on the phone told me they usually take 2 weeks from the time they receive your money so for me i guess i have some more time to wait..

It says "submitted to schools". I thought that's what yours said and you had gotten an email with that update.

Does anyone have their DAT scores showing?
 
Application Submitted: 6/11/09
Transcripts: No (submitted 5/19)
Test Scores: Yes (recent retake 5/9)
Letters: 1 Received (HPO Committee Packet)
Payment: Yes (received 6/16)

Hopefully they will have my app out by next week??
 
do you have to turn in the TMDSAS evaluation forms to your professors? I requested my letters before they opened up the application and did not turn in this form. Is this going to be a problem?
 
Which form are you talking about? The one with the barcode or the one with the extra stuff the evaluator has to fill out. Without barcode should be ok, it will just take longer to process (happened to me), but without the evaluation form might have to resend.

yes... the evaluation form. all of my professors except one have already submitted their letters into interfolio. I had asked them to write me these letters mid semester. Should i go back to them and ask them to fill out the evaluation form. if so... how do they turn that in?

i'm just a bit confused because they didn't mention this evaluation form during the application seminars at my school and i just now saw it on TMDSAS.

any advice would help.
 
San Antonio reicieved my application for 2010, noticed via email. It is funny I got rejection letter for last cycle just two days ago! Hopefuly this year will be different. :xf:
 
I emailed ADA, they said DENTPIN will be implemented starting next year. For now, you don't have to worry about it. Just put your S.S# where indicated.
 
If you have already included all 3 Texas schools when you registered to take the DATs, you don't have to do anything else to request the scores to be available for the 3 Texas dental schools to see right? (Besides filling in your SS# on TMDSAS)?
Because my status for DAT scores still says not received, and it's been 3 weeks.
I don't know if it's still the technical problems with the TMDSAS application service or is it me.

Starting to get worried!!!! =(

Strange! they received my DAT scores in less than ten days.

yeah my DAT score was sent on May 23rd and on the first page it still says not received but when i called TMDSAS, they told me in their system it says that my scores are there. so i donno it sucks but you probably want to call TMDSAS to feel safe about the issue

I put all the organzitions im a member of... the instruments i play... and all the intramurals sports i play.

yeah i think it depends what you have to put on there.
if you have lot of other ECs to put there, then reading books / playing guitar wouldn't be the priority (actually playing guitar would be good to show dexterity and also a good interview topic so i would put it there) but i put more of stuff that i am actually doing for organizations such as church choir / praise team, IM sports, members of certain clubs and etc.

but IMO it is whatever you want to put it there as long as you find it relevant to yourself / application

P.S. anybody still waiting for their app to be sent out? i have submitted and paid by the 15th and still waiting. how long did you guys have to wait before TMDSAS to send out your app.?

So...
we have to have our evaluators send their LOEs electronically, but have them send the evaluation form through the mail?

Is this correct?
 
So has anyone else's TMDSAS application been sent to the dental schools besides Danny289???

Do they email us if it has been submitted or do we have to check the status on TMDSAS?

Your evaluators can do it online OR the old school snail mail way. I actually had one professor do it online (he just followed the directions) and the other professor and dentist mailed their letter AND evaluation form in (part of which had to be completed by me).

My app has also been submitted to the schools. I submitted to TMDSAS on 6/3/09 and about a week and a half later it updated to say "submitted to schools". I never received an email from them at that point. My DAT scores took forever to show up on TMDSAS though, I don't think they showed up until like a week ago. I still can't see my scores on their website too, it just says that they've been received. Can anyone see their actual DAT scores on TMDSAS?

Got an email from San Antonio last week that they received my application.😀 And my 3rd and final LOR has been received.

Thanks for the quick response, but how would they send the evaluation form online? It seems like I would need to sign it before giving it to them, so wouldn't I have to print it out >>> meaning they would have to send it through the mail?

How would I go about sending the form online? (I guess I must have missed where this was possible in the application)
 
I submitted 6/17.
Everything's been received.
Still hasn't been sent out to the schools =(.
