I forgot to include one of my part-time jobs for one summer and TMDSAS won't let me submit the application. Of course you can sit around doing nothing for 3 months but I don't know how you can proceed to the submission page.

Just write 'sat around and did nothing' if that's what you did...
 
So....not really sure what the deal is with TMDSAS. Is it only for Texas residents applying to Texas schools? Someone from, say, California can't apply to a Texas school using TMDSAS?
 
correct. TMDSAS is only for Texas residents. You should be applying through AADSAS because the essays might be different and so will your secondaries. Also, TMDSAS application came out on May 3rd i believe, because it prefers Texas residents. Makesure you're a competitive applicant i you're out of state because although the Texas schools are required to accept a minimum of 90% Texas residents, most schools accept between 96-98% Texans.
 
Anybody getting the impression SA and Houston are alot slower than Baylor?

Just took my DAT on the 4th so I'm not expecting invites yet...but an acknowledgement that they got my app would be nice.

Baylor bugged the hell out of me to get my secondary in, so I at least know they have my stuff, but haven't heard anything from Houston/SA
 
I read somewhere that Houston is the slowest one but don't know about Baylor and SA
 
By the way, if you get an email from Baylor saying they have received my application that includes both TMDSAS and secondary right?

I have done both still just wanted to make sure.

Baylor schedules pretty much all their interviews between September and November.

Last year, SA finished interviewing in January I think.

Houston was still interviewing in March. Houston just moves through the applications slow.
 
Just received an email invite for interview from UTHSCSA, no words from Baylor and Houston yet. Does anyone have an interview with UTHSCSA before August 30?
 
got an application received email from houston today
 
interview for UTHSCSA for 16th Aug and Houston received my application email.
 
So I guess August 16 is the first batch of interview at UTHSCSA. Good luck to y'all
 
For those of you who have a 16 aug interview, how long was it between when TMDSAS said your application was sent to the schools and you were invited for an interview.

My fiancé just got an interview offer at Baylor on the 8th of Sept. I can't wait till I am done with my DAT on the 24th. Do you all think I will be considered late - not make it in for the first round? I have already sent in my app with everything completed, but the DAT. I know Baylor and UTSA accept faxed DAT scores. I think Dr.P even mentioned that Houston would accept them as well. Although when my fiancé called Houston, they said they do not accept them.

I don't think Houston accepts faxed DAT scores. But I will see Dr. P tomorrow and I can ask him just to make sure.

I think it says on their website that they don't accept faxed scores. I faxed mine to them before I read that. I don't think it made a difference especially because they move so slow through the apps anyway...
 
That's wierd, cause she faxed in her scores last Friday and got an interview offer yesterday. Her application was transmitted just a few weeks ago. Not sure if her DAT helped with getting a quick turnaround, as she did really well on it.
 
Baylor's the only school that accepts faxed unofficial scores. (called all the tx schools yesterday)
 
SA accepted my fiancé's score. It might be the person you spoke with.
 
I went to the UTDB's Office of Student Affairs today to talk to Dr. P, but he was in a meeting but I did ask the ladies in the office and they mentioned that faxed copies were not accepted. Official scores were needed before any interview offers were given out.
 
Thanks for finding out Astros1fan. I guess I am going to have to wait it out for Houston after taking my DAT. I really hope that and my fiancé get in at Houston - #1 choice for the both of us!
 
How many of you guys applied outside of Texas? I never planned to, but now I'm considering it.

I submitted everything by 6/21, all texas schools have received my app and I am waiting for interviews. In my anxiety, I'm starting to second-guess not applying to more than the 3 texas schools. My GPA is on the lower side, but my DAT is slightly above average. I have good ECs, research, shadowing, service, etc. Stats-wise, i feel I have the best chance at baylor, and am not sure that SA/Houston would seriously consider me.

Is it just the anxiety of waiting for interviews, or should I consider applying to some OOS schools on monday?

However, my application is still processing and it is saying that the DAT scores are still not yet received however everything else on my application has been received.

I didn't apply OOS last year because I had no desire to leave TX. The only thing I'd say is that around Feb/March when I had done two interviews but had 0 acceptances, I was really wishing I had applied OOS. It turned out great for me but I was really thinking I'd have to reapply again this year.

So I guess my answer would be, if you're willing to risk having to reapply again next year then don't.

I think you should double check that with TMDSAS. I've always thought (and been told) that you DO have to re-release your scores.

Applied to 6 OOS friendly schools. OU, Midwestern, Louisville, Michigan, Case Western, and Nova Southeastern

Reason for this, is I can't afford to sit around doing this application process again as I'm graduating in May...I need to be in DS next fall, haha :xf:

Hey! Sorry, I thought it was understood that I meant San Antonio! lol. I was so excited I forgot to specify to which school.

I also received an interview invite for Baylor on the 10th of September. Anybody else hear anything? That's weird that somebody has an interview on the 8th... I thought they only do one interview a week?
 
TexanGal, my fiancé has an interview on the 8th. I am guessing that they will prob interview multiple times during the week in the beginning. Later, when they are reviewing applications and making decisions, they might slow down the review process. This is just pure speculation. I will try to get her to post her thoughts on the interview when she is done. Good luck with the interview and with the application process!
 
I think I saw some interviewees today in the lab at UTDB with Dr. Pierpont. I can't believe the cycle has started again already! Good luck to you all.

hmm so how do they accept students? based on what? is there a breakdown for that like DAT contributes some %, GPA some %, interview some %, shadowin-volunteering-ECs-etc some %?

and how many people have heard from Houston and Dallas? are they slow in inviting people for interview?

Honestly, it was really weird for me. My DAT score was a little below average, GPA was average, and had tons of extracurricular and volunteering stuff. I never imagined getting an interview from UTHSCSA much less being accepted, because when I was researching the schools, it seemed to me that their average stats for the matriculating students were higher than Baylor or UTDB. I even thought my interview didn't go that well either, but I am really grateful to get into one of the best schools in the nation 🙂 All in all, you can never be certain about anything.

Baylor and San Antonio are pretty quick about inviting people for interviews. Houston is normally slower. Last cycle, Baylor stopped interviewing first, UTHSCSA in mid Jan, and Houston around that same time.

I would notify TMDSAS first. I think they can update your app with the new shadowing hours and let the schools know.

They said they do not make updates or edit the application once they have been submitted 🙁
 
Since when does San Antonio have a secondary app and fee? I applied three years ago and there was neither.
