i received an interview invite today via email from Baylor at around 1:30pm. My TX app was transmitted 7/19 so it took awhile for me. I think they were slowly giving invites earlier but i think they are about to start giving out more interviews now.

YAY! Got an interview today with Baylor and My friend got hers today too, looks like they are going to be giving out alot of interviews now 😀 Good luck folks!

I got an invite to Baylor today too for 9/29! Yay for all the folks getting invites! I will be looking forward to meeting all my fellow SDN buddies in person! 🙂

Mine has a name other than an evaluator also.
 
just got back from a baylor interview guys.

its super relaxed and everyone is really, really friendly.
 
I got an invitation last Friday to interview at UTDB Monday the 13th. Houston apparently gives really short notice? Because I knew about SA and Baylor 2-3 weeks in advance! Not that I'm complaining lol.

Hope everyone's interviews are going well! 🙂

Should I be worried that I've received the Baylor confirmation of receiving my TMDSAS application twice and haven't received one from San Antonio? 🙁

No, I haven't received ANYTHING from SA either and my stuff was turned in, in July. Houston at least acknowledged they got my stuff. Makes ya wonder, but I think most everybody's in the same shoes...maybe within the next couple weeks they'll start inviting mass groups of people like every other school out there, who knows! Just keep waiting and crossing your fingers 👍

Just nervous that they sent me a confirmation and then resent it a month later. I think I might have submitted too early (being too overzealous, two days after the application came out 🙁). And I'll try to keep that in mind. Good luck, bud.
 
San Antonio told me they got mine sometime last week if it helps any. You might want to call to make sure.

Just so people know..

TMDSAS was transmitted on 6/10, however I didn't take my DAT until August 4th, so they got my scores a couple weeks after that.
 
TMDSAS just received my DAT scores yesterday. How long do you all think it will take before the schools get my scores and send out invites (Assuming they want to interview me). My application was submitted like 2 months ago - the only thing left was my DAT score.
 
Still waiting for interviews at Houston and SA, but pretty stoked about mine at baylor coming up.

I'm glad school keeps me busy, and that I only have 3 schools to worry about (although having applied to only 3 schools does freak me out from time to time).

Baylor has very different criterias for selecting their interviewees. To be honest they seem to be different from any other school.

I don't know about this but I received an email from Houston today for an interview on Monday 20th 🙂....Can't believe it. I mean I was just talking to the dentist I assist about what I should do and if I should call schools or not? and then during lunch I checked my email and saw this. Was so excited to see it 😀...might see at least one of you there? 😛 hopefully lolz....

The Houston interview is very similar to the other Texas schools. You'll interview with one professor for about 30 minutes. Have answers for the obvious questions like "What got you interested in dentistry," etc. Also, I was asked questions about grades and my personal statement, which was not necessarily the case at other schools. I was also asked a lot of general academic questions like "How do you study?" and "How do you deal with stress?" It's not difficult, you'll be fine.

Contact UTDB to see if they have hotel discounts in the area, as everything in the med center / west U is expensive.

Hey everybody 🙂 I'm done interviewing at the 3 TX schools and just wanted to tell you all to RELAX. That's honestly what it's all about. As somebody who has interviewed twice... relaxing has made a huge difference for me. The people you're interviewing with are just... people. They want to know if you can carry a conversation with them, and want to know what your motivations are WITHOUT BSing them. You know the difference between a cliche answer and a real answer, so make sure you answer honestly and genuinely.

This time around has been really tough. If I do have a decision to make at the end of the day, I have no idea what I would decide. All schools have their pros and cons and the price of all three is too close to have that be the deciding factor. Make sure you ask questions about things that are important to you in a dental school.

Anyway. I wish you all the best of luck with the rest of your interviews. It's all about patience at this point so take it easy 🙂

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express down the street. It's a two minute drive to the medical center. I told them I was interviewing at the medical center and I got the room for 85. I don't know if that's the cheapest you can find, but it's the cheapest I found 🙂 They also have a shuttle to the med center in case you want to take advantage of that. They'll drop you off right in front of the dental school steps.

Does anyone know if Baylor stays true to their website that they don't consider OOS'ers for interviews until Oct 1st? Thanks.

I was interviewed yesterday at San Antonio Dental and it was just chatty, so if you do have one coming up, just relax. Beautiful campus!!!

O Baylor, why are you so picky? You say one thing but do another. Quit playing games with me and just interview me 🙁

So I called this morning to find out if everything was fine with my app. I was told by the very nice lady that since I only have like 12 hours of bio credit completed, it will really hurt my app - like I might not get in. I don't get it. I have will have completed the bio requirements, I aced the bio section of the DAT, and have done well in all of my science classes. Why do they want me to take all these classes when we will have to relearn them in dental school anyway?!

I can't believe she told you that. Especially since some people don't even have science degrees (just the pre-req's).

I think you will be fine Txlonghorn. Your stats are good. You took the DAT latter like me (8/11 for me). I think we just have to give it time because most of these people getting interviews were fully complete before we even sat for the DAT.

But if that is the case, maybe the fact that I have 47 hrs of BIOS classes will help since I am OOS. 😀

Hey there future dentists, congrats to everyone so far that has received an interview so far.

I have an interview on the 27th at San Antonio, for those that have already interviewed there im just curious as to what the day format is like and whether you actually interview with multiple people or just one? One of my friends interviewed at Houston and she said it was basically just an hour long conversation with one person about her and her life, no hard questions just really straightforward.

Any advice?
 
Yeah, I am one of those people (business major). I hope it works out, because my fiancé has a good chance to get in there.
