Houston will be towards the morning ish, mine in 09 was stamped:

December 1, 2009 7:47:29 AM CST

so, go to sleep lol.

Congrats Baylor folks! Hope to see you and feel free to ask questions 😀

San Antonio and Baylor. Truly feeling blessed right now.

Congrats to the people who got into Texas schools. You'll all become dentists and be debt free 🙂. Hooray for state-subsidized tuition lol.

Congrats Everyone who got in last night!!!!

I never inerviewed at Baylor, and nothing from SA last night, so I'm assuming that's a no? I interviewed back in August. Anyone know if they call?

Still hoping for Houston this morning!

Good luck everyone who's still waiting!

I don't think they call but people still get into SA after Dec. 1! Just think about all the people that have offers to both SA and Baylor, they have to make a choice. And ALOT of people choose Baylor. Also, Houston offers still haven't gone out this morning yet. Have hope, you're still in a very good situation 👍

Congratulations to everyone! 👍

I'm in the same boat marii0o...... exact same. Is it appropriate to call the school, or send them an email to inquire about status? TMDSAS doesn't have a status page like the AADSAS status I hear about on the forums, so how do we know if we've been wait-listed or flat out rejected?😕

They're probably going to field a million phone calls today for the exact same reason. I would just jump on that boat and call/email to find out.

SA doesn't really inform you if you're on a wait list. Last year, if they didn't flat out reject you, you were considered still in the running for a spot that opens up. They generally don't start rejecting interviewed people until they've filled up their entire class for sure. They'll send you an email if you're rejected.

But with a couple people holding multiple acceptances and Houston still not sending acceptances yet, there's still a chance for SA. Don't lose hope 👍

I actually got through to Nelda Potter this morning, and she said that she does not know about how many acceptances went out last night but they will be sending more acceptance after January 2nd.

I've discovered over the years of applying that "more acceptances" might mean as a little as 5-10. Don't expect another wave like Dec. 1. They fill the majority of their class today.

Thanks, coolbeans. I interviewed in mid-October (applied late August), but also received no interviews elsewhere (only applied in Texas), so I'm kind of freaking out - surprisingly less than this last week. It does seem like a lot of students prefer Baylor but its hard to comfort yourself based on the rejections of others students. It seems kind of silly that schools don't send out emails to all interviewees informing them of their status at midnight.

Didn't you know that's the common theme when applying to dental school? Being left in the dark and waiting until you go crazy

Congrats to the new c/o 2016! Nothing beats a TX DSchool. For those who didn't get in yet, don't lose faith. Plans always change, and people will get in even a month before school starts. Hell, 3 of my classmates got in AFTER they received a rejection letter lol. Keep the faith. :xf:

Oh, I understand but this is a business, they would avoid the onslaught of phone calls the following morning thereby decreasing stress of the secretaries and pre-dent students, but again your right AwesomeTeeth this is obviously not their objective.

Keep the faith but plan for next year as well. Don't hang on to hope that you'll be one of those lucky people that get in last minute. As soon as March hits, start planning for the next cycle and make yourself better. Then apply in May/June. If a miracle happens between then and when school starts, great! If not, at least you'll be prepared for the next round instead of putting on your app "I SPENT ALL SPRING SEMESTER WAITING!"

I'm all for positive thinking but sometimes you have to be realistic as well. But then again, it's way too early to be talking about this since its only Dec. 1 lol

Thanks for the advice everyone!

I guess it's just time to look at improving my application. I honestly thought I had some acceptable stats! (Or I may just be completely awkward and not personable at all in an interview,).

I was kind of worried how applying with only 2 years of college would hurt me a lot, maybe that was it.

Anyone know if Houston has sent out any? I haven't really seen anything on here yet.

i know today is an emotional day for everyone whether you've gotten acceptances or still hoping schools are going to send you a late email like me. Don't give up hope guys because anything is possible, I just received an email from Baylor about an interview invite for January!

At 8:08 am, I got into houston 🙂 Best of luck

I dropped by admissions today at Baylor, competition is up even more this year. Over 900 Texas applicants to Baylor, average stats for the accepted was ~20.5 DAT, 3.65 GPA. Baylor fills most of their spots dec 1 but will interview a few after. Some of those post dec 1 interviews will be just to help you know that you're still on our radar and to give you things to improve on for next cycle.
Remember, getting into dental school and especially getting thru is a marathon not a sprint. Plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Got my notice from Houston this morning. During my interview with them, they mentioned they're probably behind the other two schools in terms of getting the reviewing process done.

Looking forward to the new school. 🙂

Congratulations, colleagues!

For those of you heading to Houston, we all get to check out the new school together... should be interesting

For those of you with multiple acceptances in TX (I only int/acc at one), what are some factors that yall are taking into account in making your decision??

I'd like to see/hear which schools are chosen and for what reasons...

Just spoke to Baylor today, they told me they have already sent out all their after-decemeber (Jan) interview offers...so if you didn't get one your most likely getting a rejection letter.

Anyone know if UTHSCSA and UTSD give out rejection letters/emails? Also, any in state people get a rejection from Baylor?

does anyone know until when san antonio and houston will be sending out interviews?

I'm pretty sure Baylor and San Antonio are done with interviews for this cycle. Houston is probably wrapping up right now, if not done already. I would definitely not hang on to hope if you haven't heard back by now.

BTW, what happened to this thread? All the past TMDSAS threads were rockin' and awesome. This one dies for a really long time and randomly returns lol

You're right, we really need to get this thread back to its former glory.

Lol, not really much to say at this point.

Has anyone received post-December acceptance emails yet?

I've just been sitting around checking periodically to see if anyone posted word, but figured since we're reviving the thread, I might as well ask.

In the pass TMDSAS forums, it seemed like they were getting there post-dec acceptances around mid february.. Keep an eye out around then!

Good luck!

This is the email that I received from Baylor on Feb. 7th... for those of you wondering about admissions still.

"Dear HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry Applicant,

This letter is to inform you of Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry’s (HSC-BCD) Post-Baccalaureate Program (PBP). This year-long program is designed to assist students who will most likely serve underserved communities and/or populations matriculate into dental school and obtain their professional goal of becoming dentists.
HSC-Baylor is proud to offer students who meet specific criteria the opportunity to apply to its Post-Baccalaureate Program. These criteria and a description of the program are available at http://www.bcd.tamhsc.edu/education/studentdevelopment/postbacprogram.html. We realize that you might have been accepted at another dental school. However, if you have not, I encourage you to review information describing HSC-BCD’s Post-Baccalaureate Program. If you satisfy the program’s admission criteria and decide to apply to the 2012 – 2013 PBP, the application can be downloaded from the webpage sited above. It is HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry’s goal to help students achieve success in dentistry and to encourage them to give back to their communities.
If you have been interviewed for the 2012 class, you are still under consideration for a position. The Office of Recruitment and Admissions will continue to fill the 2012 class until classes begin in August. However, since this was an extremely competitive year, you may want to have a backup plan and apply to the Post-Bac Program. If you are offered a position in the 2012 class, you may drop out of the Post-Bac Program at that time.
For more information, please contact Ms. Natasha Sneed, Lead Office Associate or me at (214) 828-8332 or [email protected].

Sincerely,

Ernie S. Lacy, D.D.S.
Director, Post-Baccalaureate Program &
Office of Student Development"

Been a long week and it's only Wednesday...I'm just so tired of waiting...

I hope you're right. I'm actually conducting post-bacc work at my second university at the moment and will most likely be graduating with a second BS (in Biochemistry; my first was in Biology) in the Fall if this cycle doesn't pan out.

Third time re-applicant so kind of on my wit's end here.

I'm contemplating applying for an MPH program since it seems as though this cycle appears to be another fruitless one.

What about the Baylor post back

Just posting to say that a classmate of mine got accepted to Baylor earlier today and he was a pre-December interviewee for what it's worth. I don't know how full their class is at this point or how many spots are left but it's something at least.

does anyone know until when san antonio and houston will be sending out interviews?

During my interview on Jan 31st, Dr. Pierpont said that was the last interview date. A few of my friends already got the rejection/no more interview email from Houston. I was rejected from San Antonio last week because they said they are done selecting for the class. Weird, I interviewed there last year, and got rejected without an interview this year....

Thanks for the update!

Good to know there's movement from Baylor but I'm not holding out too much hope from them to be honest; I interviewed there in August and historical data tells me that they're pretty much done with the selection process at this point, save for the "musical chair" spots that may open up.

What about the Baylor post back
I have considered applying, but upon looking over the program costs and curriculum, it didn't seem like a good fit.

I also have personal reasons for wanting to stay in Houston for as long as possible, and at this point, want to invest my time in programs that may benefit me in other career paths if dentistry is not in the cards for me.

It is my deepest wish to become a dentist however, so I am fully planning at this point towards what I can do to best prepare for my fourth go around.

Have you heard good things about the Baylor post-bacc program? It would be nice to hear some insight about how well it worked out for someone who has gone through it.
