Hi friends. I got an email from Baylor this afternoon. My heart jumped. But it was just an offer for Post Bach Program.
However, I want to ask you if is it true that everyone who interviewed at Baylor and did not get in 1st round all have this offer?
Or is it a good sign at Baylor?
Please help me this question!

I also received the email about the post-bac program at Baylor but I never interviewed with them. Even though I received the email I do not qualify for the program.

I just got that email as well.
Is it even worth the time to apply if I already have a backup plan to do an informal post bac? I understand that if you get accepted into the program and maintain a 3.4+, you are automatically accepted to Baylor the next year. Of course, people have said "you never know until you apply." which is true. However, I don't meet ANY of the criteria.

Only 16 students get accepted into the post-bac program at Baylor. If you don't meet any of the requirements I wouldn't waste your time applying. Just my opinion, but I think you would be better off to focus on making your app stronger and reapplying. That is if you don't get accepted this round, which there is still hope!!! I have my fingers crossed I hear something soon... Good luck!

I actually just found out my community is under served. But that's the only thing going for me along with being a 1st gen. student. lol

Do we ever get an official letter in the mail?

Had an interview scheduled for Houston tomorrow 1/28. They called this morning and rescheduled it for 2/11 because they are worried about the bad weather tomorrow morning..... Anyone else have the same news...?

Yes.

But the email is sent out as a formality?

I know no details on this, sorry! All I know is that I received the email and did not interview with Baylor.

Sent from my iPad using SDN Mobile

Dang. You know how many seats are currently filled?

This I do not know. I have heard and read that Baylor fills up the quickest, but I have no clue what they are sitting at right now.

Hey everyone, how slight is my chance of getting into Houston now that I didn't even received an acceptance e-mail. 🙁
I interviewed mid-Jan and my interviewer made me feel like I had a huge chance but I guess not. Just wonder if anyone has any insights/ info. Thank you

How are your stats? You shouldn't give up hope until May. This is because that it will take them time to process everything and gather all the committee together to talk about it.

Thank you first for the heads up.

I just wonder if the next time I might hear back will be May or can it be any time between now til then? I'm just hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst now. :<

I'd say your chances are still pretty good if you've had an interview. The folks I met along the way generally had Houston #2 or #3 on their ranking, and they are just ridiculously slow with their acceptances. Something like 50 sent out 12/2? I wouldn't be surprised if they still had 40 spots or something.

This may sound cliche, but in case this cycle does not work out for you then ....
If dentistry is truly what you want to do, then pursue it with persistence!!
Do not be discouraged.

As you said, hope for the best but plan for the worst.

It took me multiple application cycles before I was finally rewarded with success (at my #1 school) this time around and I am glad that it all paid off in the end!

I would go to that interview, if you didn't want to go, then shouldn't have applied. Since your schools are really limited, you should check it out!

For those of you who heard from houston, were you all also interviewed at san antonio? if you were, what is your choice between houston and SA?

Has anyone heard yet from San Antonio? I interviewed in Dec. I thought we were supposed to know about our status by the end of Jan. lol

In the same boat. Interviewed the exact day that the first round of letters went out (Dec. 2nd). Everyone seems to be pretty sure that they should roll out the second round sometime this week. I'm hoping for some news here soon.

I interviewed in November and have talked to a guy who is a d3 interviewer and he said that they seriously are on a rolling admission and anyone can get a admission at any time.

i interviewed dec 16th still waiting to hear back

Yes, but how often does the admissions committee meet up? If they haven't had a chance to evaluate your interview, then how can you be in the pool for rolling acceptances? I'm pretty sure that is what the hold up is for.

Yeah, same I interviewed on the Dec 9th lol. There was a new friend of mine who interviewed on that same day got in a week ago. So, I guess we just have to wait it out a little more longer.

are you saying your friend got into San Antonio last week?

if this is true, then all of us waiting for a 'batch acceptance' for San Antonio just lost hope because either 1) no one on here reported that they got into SA last week when the batch went out or 2) SA just gives out acceptances on more of an individual basis and not in batches. Thoughts everyone?

I've given up on trying to figure out how acceptances are handed out. I know not everyone is on sdn or has a fb so nothing is a guarantee. Houston's fb has 83 and SA has 70 with overlaps (and then there is Baylor with 120). Some probably don't even know about the fb pages. From looking at last year's thread people were getting accepted on Sundays with automated emails from SA. There was also a pretty big wave of acceptances around feb 4. I've accepted the fact that any day of the week from now until May I could hopefully hear something!! Keeping my fingers crossed and obsessively checking my email... Good luck everyone!

I have no idea where San Antonio stands now. Also I was wondering if you guys could provide me with some input. When I received an invite I was still in the middle of my last semester. But now unfortunately with my last semester the gpa is a point lower. I am scared to send the transcript just yet because I feel they will review it and it might hurt my chances of being accepted. Do you think they will review the updated transcript to make a decision even after interviewing students, or is everything reviewed before they decide to invite student for interview??

I just wouldn't send it in. My advisor told me to send in new grades if it can bolster your chances but not otherwise. It isn't required.

okay..,so its not like they are waiting for me to aend it in right? i was starting to think maybe thats why i havnt heard anything

I doubt a tenth of a point would change much anyways. But it looks like you're good anyway with not needing to turn it in 🙂

Negative. If you get in, they will want a final transcript, but otherwise you are good.

Hey yeah apparently she found out, and so far she's all I heard from that got in. Idk about the other people if they heard from them as well. lol I'm just gonna sit tight and just wait....

I got rejected from Baylor today. I didn't get an interview so I wasn't surprised, but it still doesn't feel all that great.

Wow, i thought baylor already done with rejecting the non-interviewing applicant coz baylor has done its interviewing long time ago

Same..but then hours later got invited to western dental 🙂
Are you going to that interview? I was invited same day, same time but am thinking about not going because of tuition costs.

i am going unless i get an acceptance from SA.

I was told yesterday by Mrs. Pledger (Baylor) that 5 seats remain, but that she would be very surprised if that stayed the same. She said the committee has yet to meet and will do so as early as this week or as late as the last week of the month. After their deliberation, they will attempt to fill the class, wait list 25-30, and I guess reject the rest. She said that it's not surprising for them to go through 15 of the waitlisters. Just an FYI to everyone.

Im thinking. Spent tons of money on an interview this late? Is it worth guy?
Im have one more interview in flo and everything is so expensive. So hard to decide

Western interviews 550+ for 70 seats. My decision might be easier than yours.

@cacajuate
I was in a very similar situation last year. I hadn't heard from any of Texas schools but I got an interview at Western. So I went and did the interview. I can't make a decision on your behalf but obviously the trip will cost you a lot however personally I never wanted to deal with the thought that "What if I went". Long story short, I did NOT get accepted. So I was very frustrated obviously.
I completely understand your situation now but it is all up to you. I personally think chances are slim now with Western but depending on your financial situation and scores you might still want to go.

My scores aren't the top of the barrel so I don't feel that it would merit the trip. If I was accepted, I wouldn't attend after I looked at the $400k debt.

Did you get accepted to Texas schools last year? or this year?
