Hi guys,

I have a quick question about TMDSAS GPA calculation for post-bacc credits. I am enrolling at my undergrad institute for a 2nd bachelors degree during the interim period for EY2016 cycle. Therefore, I will have this Spring 2015 semester as a post bacc student to report on the upcoming EY2016 TMDSAS.

I checked on the main website but couldn't find information how post-bacc credits are calculated for GPA purposes. As you see, TMDSAS calculates multiple GPA's for an applicant:
- overall GPA
- overall BCPM GPA
- overall undergrad GPA
- undergrad BCPM GPA
- undergrad non-BCPM GPA

- overall grad GPA
- grad BCPM GPA
- grad non-BCPM GPA

My question is under which category are post-bacc courses counted for GPA purposes? Further review of Academic Status shows that post-bacc course classification is distinct from graduate course classification.

So I am left wondering if post-bacc courses are counted in undergrad or if they are counted in grad GPA calculations.

Anyone have any ideas?

Did you ever clarify how post-bacc fits in? I'm also searching for this info

I took post bacc courses. From what I can tell on TMDSAS undergraduate level post bacc courses count toward:

- overall GPA
- overall BCPM GPA
- overall undergrad GPA
- undergrad BCPM GPA
- undergrad non-BCPM GPA

They do not count toward grad gpa unless they are graduate level courses.

If you are taking any undergraduate level classes after you have received a bachelor's degree, they will count as post-bacc and will be both reported separate PB and combined with previous undergraduate work

gonnif,
Would you say that there is any definitive weight to a good PB GPA for allopathic admissions? For instance, I graduated with an undergraduate GPA of 3.1-ish (bio major, scattered As & Bs, a few Cs and Ds). My post-bacc GPA (approximately 32 PCBM credit hours and 8 hours non-science) is 3.9. Assume a 510 on the MCAT - would these numbers get me an interview at an MD school? (also TX resident)

This is incorrect for TMDSAS. Any course that is listed as being an undergraduate level course will be calculated as part of your undergraduate GPA. There is no separate post-bacc category.

Post-bacc courses counted as Undergrad GPA within the respective BCPM GPA section for the classes you take after graduation.
