If I only want to practice general dentistry in NY, CT, or CA, does anyone know that I do not have to take NERB or WREB with one year of residency or AEGD? What other states would work this way?

Yes you can practice in NY CA and CT after completing GPR or AEGD program. With california, you need to fly to california and take the law test there. NY you can take the course anytime it's offered throughout the year. You just need your preceptor to complete the form saying that you have completed a GPR or AEGD. I don't know about NY or CT, but i know that for right now California does not accept specialty programs to replace WREB, it will only take GPR or AEGD. Good luck!

The States that accept PGY-1, AEGD or GPR are: New York, California, Connecticut, Minnesota and Washingtion (just recently). You should not opt out of the NERB/WREB exams. Everyone in Dental School should have taken one of the licensing exams and pass them!
