Hey dentalworks I have seen alot of ur threads and it seems everyone is always asking for ur opinion because of ur success. I so appreciate everyone's opinion because they are so helpful. But I would like to you ask you for ur major opinion on my studying. I understand everyone is different on studying but let me just lay it out on my situation. I have a busy life with husband and 5 kids and now my biological father living in my household. I stay very busy from the time my eyes open til they close. I try to study here and their during the day and some at night. Maybe 4 hrs a day however, Im trying to take stay awake pills at night while everyone is sleeping but I find myself still getting sleepy after 2 hrs. I have not started studying on pat but i do have cdp. Im working slowly on gc chad's videos not yet on oc or bio and if i do its very lil. Trying to concentrate on gc first for the fact i didn't learn much when i took it several yrs ago. Oc's i took over a year ago so I have to just refresh and learn a lil more. Now as for math ohhh dentalworks wowwww! I have math destroyer and woww i have no math background. I did go to khan's videos but there are so many dont know were to start so I have a friend who is pretty good in math and i am so suppose to get with her for only about 1-2 weeks. I will show her math destroyer and maybe she can just help me figure out how to solve these kind of problems quickly than to watch alot of khans videos for the fact i dont have much time left. I will start summer school in june so really all i have is all of May. Please help!!!😱
lolz... you coulda just PM'd me
As far as the 2 chemistry sections go. Yes Chads (or KBB) will do the trick if you have somewhat of an "okay" knowledge of the topics. If you find yourself getting lost with chads (or KBB), thats okay, it just means your going to need to crack open your college text and read up on the topic. Don't feel discouraged if you see yourself spending 2-3 hours just on a basic topic like Molarity or concentration, sometimes with classes like GC, you'll spend a great deal of time building a foundation.
With MATH destroyer, you'll get frustrated with some (if not most) of the questions ~ this is especially true if you have a low math background or when you get hit with probability questions hahaha... Again, THATS OKAY, it just means your gonna have to find another resource to explain the problems to you. You have your friend (which probabaly isn't most ideal, because you can't get to them everytime you get confused)...... FORTUNATELY FOR YOU, there is SDN DAT forums. You can post your math questions here, in no time, you'll get a few math-wizards explaining the problem to you.... Post as many questions as you want, some of us have large math-egos and like to show it off
🙂
Take MATH destroyer 1 test at a time, you might get frustrated with every problem on the first couple tests, thats okay. Just make sure you don't move on to the next test until you've understood EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM flawlessly. The whole point of math destroyer is to master those problems. Back in my DAT day (2009), about 80% of math destroyer problems just reappeared on the DAT with different values. Another thing I'll encourage you to do is.... don't time your self with math destroyer. I think its wiser to first get a grasp on math before you start timing yourself.
I wouldn't worry about the PAT just yet, you still have alot of science & QR preparation a head of you. You can start hitting up CDP when your 4-6 weeks away from the DAT date. Majority of people who do CDP religiously bring up their performance to a respectable margin (19+).
I don't know what its like to have 5 children, I imagine you have a hectic day. But don't let that discourage you. Every day before you start studying, set a goal for yourself. Say "Today I finish this many sections" or "this many videos".... Be reasonable with your expectations, if its 11PM, don't give yourself 5 videos to complete lol, you'll be lucky to do a 1-hour video (which will take you 2+ hrs because of note taking and occasional pausing). Do this for 2-3 weeks and see how you progress (by the way I am strickly speaking about GC ~ since thats the only thing ur studying these days).
Another thing I'd do is, every day, no matter what, try to read 1 chapter of Cliff's AP bio. No matter what happens that day, even if you don't meet your GC quota, try to keep up with 1 chapter of biology. It shouldn't take you more than 30minutes - 1 hour.... When you finish, read the whole book again. Highlight / underline important concepts. If you read a topic thats confusing to you (and you might run into those occasionally) THATS OKAY, crack open Wikipedia and most of the time, it will clarify it.
1 month from today (if your able to keep your calm lol) your going to have a better grasp on GC and Biology. This will encourage you to focus harder.
Good luck, PM me if you have further questions
