This might be a dumb question, but I'm on the fence because I've had two completely different answers from two different advisors. I'm currently enrolled in Cell Bio right now and today is the last day to drop it without a W. The professor does not teach whatsoever. We've had 2 weeks of class and have covered maybe 20 slides. He talks about why our mothers are so important, what we should be doing with our lives, how our fathers contribute very little to us, and his PowerPoints are mainly pictures. There is maybe one sentence on each slide. Most of the slides are pictures. The grading is as follows: 33.3% for the Midterm, 33.3% for the Final, and 33.3% for Lab. The Midterm, everyone memorizes past exams because he uses the same questions. The Final, everyone fails because like I stated above, he does not teach and makes up random questions for the final for topics we have not discussed. Lab, everyone does fairly well. I went to my pre-professional advisor and asked him if I should drop the class because I will only have 18 hours for the entire year next year, but I didn't know if it would look bad to the Dental Schools that I apply to that the most hours I have taken a semester is 15. I have 16 as of right now. He told me it does not matter and that I should drop it to be full time next Fall. I decided to get a second opinion from the other pre-professional advisor. She stated that it DOES matter since I have not taken above 15 hours before and that Dental Schools like to see that I can handle a "rigorous" course load. I have seen on here that they do like to see that once you apply, but I would like your guys opinions. I know some might say to just suck it up and stick it out, and that's fine. I'm accepting all opinions. I'm in Organic 2, Physics 2, Molecular Genetics, Medical Terminology, and Cell Bio right now, if that matters. Also, I plan on taking the DAT this summer and applying this coming up cycle.

-Thanks!

Btw, this was supposed to have posted earlier and I'm not sure why it didn't.

In my opinion, if you don’t think you can do well, drop it. A bad grade will look worse than an easier course load

Every semester I took 13-15 credits, but I applied with a 4.0. None of my interviewers mentioned that I was taking a light courseload/not many hrs

Your course load seems pretty big regardless. While its 15 credits its not gen ed classes. You never stated your gpa and that can make a difference as to how I would say to proceed. I will assume you have a solid gpa and therefore tell you that its no big deal and you dont need 18 credits a semester to apply. The most I took was 16 and I got 4 interviews and acceptances. If you dont feel confident, I would drop and retake or forget the class.

Sorry, I guess I could have included my GPA. I transferred Universities after my first year and my combined is right at a 3.40 and my GPA at the University I've been at the past 3 years is 3.68.

If you think there’s a high chance you’ll get a B, then drop it.

How are the other classes, grade wise?

I've actually only had one quiz so far and that was in Molecular Genetics. I feel like I killed it. I decided to keep the class. My GPA is low because my first semester of college I did not have my head on straight. Every semester after my first semester I've had above a 3.5 GPA.

I'd drop it and focus on getting good grades in physics and orgo. Maybe even sprinkle in some DAT studying.

If you do well this semester, I wouldn't even bother taking cell biology.

I would drop it but yesterday was the last day to drop it without a W. I would love to not take it, but I have to lol. If it were my choice then I wouldn't even bother with it.

Had 12 credits a year for 4 years. Got into a competitive school. The overload your schedule with 15+ credits myth has to stop.

I wish my question would have posted earlier like I intended it too so I could have seen everyone's responses. I would have definitely dropped it then. I guess I'll have to push through it now unless I want a W.
