Hey Guys

Just looking for a little advice as a non-traditional student....

This is my first semester back in school to complete pre-reqs for med school...

so i am taking Biol1 and Pre-Calc...
doing great in Biol 1 but not so great in Pre-Calc

always have had a hard time in Math ...I'm pretty sure I can get a B in Pre-Calc might be a C...

I know the importance of getting all A's

so i'm debating about whether or not to drop Pre-Calc...what do y'all think...

oh the last day to drop with a W is thurs. nov 12

so what looks worse to med school admissions: a B or C in Pre-Calc...or a W in a Math Course

thanks for any advise

I would drop the math course and take it some other time. I personally could not keep up with an in class math course with all the homework problems and it just went too fast. I took calc I by correspondence through my university and had a tutor. Did it at my own pace and got the grade I needed without stressing and worrying about homework deadlines.

I would probably drop it as well. you CANT get a C in precalc...

I got a C in pre-calc back in the day (when i was 18) because I didnt care. It is now killing my science GPA!...might re-take it.

Anyways, I am in physics now and it is pretty freakin difficult! If you are having trouble in pre-calc, you are in for a world of trouble in physics.

Moral of the story: Hammer down and study your butt off in all math classes. Its allllllllllllllllllllllll about practice! Good luck

If it is just one W, it would be better than a C. If you can realistically get a B then I would go ahead and go for it.

I would ask myself why I am having a hard time. Usually it is because the student does not understand the basic principles. If this is the case for you then you really need to take a refresher course, or maybe audit a lower level course so that you can get the basics down.

Calculus is tough, not so much because of the concepts, but because of the difficult algebra.

Also, if you don't fix these deficiencies now, then you will pay dividends when you do Chem and physics.

good luck.

Unless you are fairly confident you will earn a B, I would withdraw. A "W" and delaying a class a semseters is a lot better than a "C" in pre-calc.
