With the merger in place I'm starting to re-think whether or not I want to apply D.O.

I'm obviously late. but I think I have decent stats for D.O. 3.63/34 MCAT, I also already have my primary application submitted and verified.

Is it worth sending out 3-4 D.O. secondaries within the next couple of weeks (I have to wait for a Physician LOR)

Thanks!

You can always try but it is definitely late. I am super surprised that you didn't get an MD acceptance yet.

But yes...it's very late in the cycle.

Was a late applicant last year with a 3.74/34, 4 II, 2 waitlist, no acceptance :/, reaplied with a 3.0 senior year, dropping my gpa to 3.6 34, applied relatively early, only 2 late II, took an extra semester and got a 4.0, but doesn't seem to help.

My life seriously sucks lol, gonna be a 3rd time applicant :/ (waitlisted at my 1 interview, next interview on Friday)

You are a second time re-applicant and you did not have at least 5 DO schools as back up...Amazing! I would submit to Nova, AZCOM, CCOM since these schools put a lot emphasis on high MCAT score.

Everyone keeps saying Nova places a lot of emphasis on MCAT scores, but people on SDN got in with a 24 this year, and some people in the 29-33 range got wait listed. I got in with a 27, with a 6 in VR.

And to the OP, you should just save your money, and apply early next cycle. Next cycle start in 4 months...why the rush?
Your MCAT/GPA are good enough for MDs, although your drop in GPA senior year could be a hiccup. Shouldn't be a problem at most schools though.

But this is OP second time applying and he/she still hasn't been accepting even with those stats. I think they should just try to apply and see what happens.

I think Nova has some interesting acceptance criteria . It doesn't seem like they only focus on stats since I noticed those with lower stats got accepted. I also think applying early at Nova is super important since they were one of the first DO schools that sent out ii.

I think its more than a hiccup since I only got 2 II despite applying to 30 schools with 20+ being low tier. I also applied fairly early.

I don't know whats wrong with my app! One adcom at USC read my app and thought my chances of getting an acceptance were excellent, and my chances at USC were 50% (though i was rejected). He didn't have access to my LOR though. I did add a LOR from a physics professor whose class I did good in from last years app, so thats really the only difference. I doubt it was a good LOR as he didn't really know me, but he was also an extremely nice guy and was happy to write the LOR for me so I doubt he wrote anything bad.

I have a meeting with USC dean of admissions soon though so maybe that will help.

Is it too late for touro-ca and western?

Strange, you probably have some red flag. Maybe someone wrote you a bad LOR? I'm assuming you have good ECs.
My friend was in the same situation as you. She had a 30 MCAT with a 3.91 sGPA/ 4.00 cGPA. She did mission trips, research, volunteering, etc. She got denied from all MD schools and including low tier schools. She was considering Caribbean schools, until she got a last minute interview at Uniformed Services and SUNY Buffalo. She got accepted to both.
Keep the faith and hang in there!

too late for western. Still a chance for Touro-Ca or Touro-NV as both end interviews later.

several primary application deadlines are coming up though. So decide NOW.

That seems really unlikely. What are your ECs? Any red flags?

to my knowledge no, I'm assuming there has to be something in my LOR

you know what though, I do have 7 college transcripts (6 community colleges) (i took classes at 3 colleges at a time in community college to ensure enough classes and a speedy transfer), I did explain this briefly in last years personal statement, and did not in this years. During my interview this year, my intrviewers first asked me why I had so many transcripts.

Think this could be a red flag?

I doubt that is such a red flag that would not land you any acceptances twice (almost). I am inclined to believe it's either your Essay, EC's or most likely a mediocre LOR. Dude DO is a great option, and frankly I would not call it a backup. Apply ASAP. However, a bad LOR will affect you for any med school allo or osteo, I'd be nice to know what the red flag is. Ask adcom about it and be upfront, ask specifically about a bad LOR, maybe you get lucky and someone tells you.

Way too late. Apply June 1 for the next cycle.

27 is not a low MCAT score... I know a couple of people who go to NOVA that told that's the case...
