hi guys, how are you?

1.Should i submit my pharmcas application without LORs since my instructors won't be back til fall semester?
2. Should i submit my pharmcas application early just for the purpose of one in-state pharmacy school is rolling admission, whereas the others are not? Shouldn't i take my time and make sure my app is error-proof?
3. I recently took the June PCAT so should i submit my pharmcas app without any pcat scores attached? (for the rolling admission school mentioned in #2).
4. I have only one honors from college: PTK, but i received a small scholarship to college, should mention the scholarship in my pharmcas app?

I know guys, this is a bit lengthy and confusing, but if u have Q's regarding any of my Q's (the irony once again), plz feel free to ask me. Thanks in advance.

1 - I've read on here that several people have submitted their app with lor requests pending. So I'm guessing that's okay, and I'll be doing that, too.

2 - Yes, you should submit your app asap. Earlier is better, especially for rolling admission. Just proofread everything and print everything out before you submit.

3 - The admissions person at one of the universities to which I'm applying told me to go ahead and send in my app with my June PCAT scores pending. I can either check with them to make sure they receive the scores or they'll call me if they see that they still haven't yet received them.

4 - I would definitely mention scholarship in the "honors & scholarship" section. Any bit would help.

Good luck!

hey pharmdude,
UIC is not a rolling admissions school. You just have to e-submit the pharmcas before Dec. 1 and the supplemental before Jan 15.
You must wait until after you receive your Autumn quarter grades to submit the supplemental.
You must not send your PCAT scores directly to UIC, only to pharmcas.

Your June pcat scores will be ready very soon in about 5 weeks (late july, early august).
I waited for my last LOR until Nov 1 and e-submitted Nov 3 and I turned out fine.

Just make sure you get your Professor's permission and let them know you want a LOR, and make sure Pharmcas has their information before you e-submit. Bring a resume during your meeting with them, and set up the electronic LOR right there in their office. Logon so they see your app and can enter their own information if they want. If they have Microsoft Outlook, they will receive the electronic LOR immediately.

Of course you can mention the scholarship in the honors. No one will know what it means, but it will look impressive that you got a scholarship. I earned a Ronald Bentz Scholarship in 2007 as part of my financial aid package, and I put that as one of my honors/awards even though I had no idea what it was. No one asked about it, and probably didnt care. Its just a small part of your overall package. Focus on having a high gpa, high pcat, good essay, and good LORs, and you'll be fine.

Dont e-submit Dec 1. Try to e-submit at least a few weeks before that.

When you reach the interview stage, it'll be a piece of cake. The interview feedback section has a list of all the questions. Interviewers are usually nice people. Be yourself and be respectful and they will appreciate it. They've seen thousands of bull****ers so dont say bull**** things.

Also make sure pharmcas has received your transcript. They can start verifying your coursework and calculating your GPAs once you e-submit.

Remember to type in your courses and grades EXACTLY as it appears on your transcript. If you change the order or incorrectly type in lower case or caps or vice versa, they will return your application and you will have to re-type your courses correctly.

Those are the most important tips i can remember. You seem like youve got things under control. Youll do fine.

And also make sure there are no errors in your Personal Statement. I actually had a serious typo in my supplementals. It was one of those generic topics like "why pharmacy", and I typed in "...the professional of pharmacy" instead of "the profession of pharmacy". Whew. That was a close one. Even ad coms dont catch everything. You'll be okay.

Hey, thanks. This is very helpful. 🙂 The rolling admission pharmacy school that i was referring to is Midwestern-chicago, right? So should i quickly finish my app and submit it so i can have better chance of getting into midwestern? (the app would obviously lack pcat score and LORs)

Another Quick Qs: I probably will need to take couple of summer classes over the next summer (2010) so should i write down in my app that i plan to take these over next summer? Will pharmacy schools still consider me as a serious potential candidate? ( i need to take these in order to fulfill the requirements) I will have all my pre-reqs done for uic but it is the requirements of other schools that is causing me concerns.
Also, should i send my high school transcript to pharmcas? I did pretty well in high school with APs and Honors.

Thanks once again.
